Rebecca Ferguson is a beloved Swedish actress, best known for her roles in A House of Dynamite, Silo, The Greatest Showman, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Dune.
Her latest project sees her step into the shoes of medium Kaulo in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, where she stars opposite Cillian Murphy, Sophie Rundle and Barry Keoghan.
While Rebecca has enjoyed a hugely successful career in the spotlight, earning multiple award nominations, including a Golden Globe nod for her portrayal of Elizabeth Woodville in The White Queen, she lives a relatively private life with her husband and two children.
Keep reading to find out more about Rebecca Ferguson's businessman husband, whom she married in a low-key countryside ceremony just over seven years ago.
Who is Rebecca Ferguson's husband?
Rebecca is married to Rory St. Clair Gainer, with whom she shares a production company. He largely lives his life out of the spotlight, aside from the occasional public appearance in support of his wife. While it is unclear exactly how the couple met, they reportedly began dating around 2016.
Before meeting Rory, Rebecca parted ways with her partner of six years, Swedish holistic therapist Ludwig Hallberg, who was 22 years her senior. The pair welcomed their son, Isaac, now 19, when the actress was 23.
Reflecting on their age difference, Rebecca told Harper's Bazaar: "I was very young, but I started working at 15… I was thrown into the deep end of work, maturity and responsibility."
When did Rebecca Ferguson get married?
Rebecca and Rory tied the knot in a private ceremony at the very end of 2018 and currently live in Richmond. While Rebecca kept the major details under wraps, she revealed the news during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden two weeks later in January 2019.
When James congratulated her, Rebecca joked: "I'm equally as surprised!" before adding: "It was a country weekend wedding. We're talking Wellington boots, we're talking snuggly socky things and games. Lots of board games."
The couple had already welcomed their daughter, Saga, now seven, before tying the knot. Explaining their decision to marry, Rebecca told Extra TV: "I think we both wanted to step over all thresholds. Also, I'm not very religious. I believe in love. It was more for us and our family."
She also shared that her son was the ring-bearer, while her daughter, who was just a baby at the time, slept through the festivities. As for her own attire, Rebecca revealed: "I wore a beautiful wedding skirt that I can shorten off, get some pockets in and I'll use it in Greece in the summer."
Rebecca Ferguson's life away from the cameras
Off-screen, Rebecca and Rory tend to keep their private life out of the spotlight. However, the star has shared snippets of what they get up to when they're not working – including trips to the Grand Prix – and has admitted they become very competitive when playing board games.
While the pair keep their children largely out of the public eye, Rebecca has revealed that her job and some of the A-list names she has worked with occasionally filter into family life. In an interview with U105 Radio, Rebecca recalled a Valentine's Day anecdote when her daughter mistook a certain Hollywood star for Rory.
"She goes up to a card and she goes, 'This is perfect for mummy.' It's a picture of Timothée [Chalamet], who she thought was her dad because it looks like my husband. And it says, 'Will you Wonka my Willy?'"
She added: "But she doesn't get it. She's like, 'Oh, it's Willy Wonka! Willy Wonka, my Willy dad!' Like, no."
