Fans eagerly following every twist and turn surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's rumoured wedding plans may have imagined the couple exchanging vows at Taylor's stunning Watch Hill estate in Rhode Island.

However, a surprising comment from the state's own senator has cast doubt on the much-discussed venue.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was asked about the speculation while in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, and his response appeared to suggest that Rhode Island may no longer be in the running.

"I think she gave Rhode Island a pass," he told TMZ, before adding that he would be delighted to host the superstar singer in the Ocean State. "I'd love to have her in Rhode Island."

While Taylor and Travis have yet to confirm any details surrounding their highly anticipated nuptials, the senator's remarks have only added fuel to the growing speculation.

Where will Tayvis get married?

The historic eight-bedroom mansion, which Taylor purchased in 2013, has long been considered a dream setting for a wedding. Perched on the waterfront and boasting breathtaking ocean views, the property has played host to many of the singer's famous Fourth of July celebrations over the years.

Yet if Rhode Island is no longer the chosen destination, attention has quickly shifted elsewhere. According to reports, New York City has emerged as the leading contender, with July 3 widely rumoured to be the date the couple could say "I do".

For devoted Swifties, the location would certainly make sense. Taylor has deep ties to New York and owns an impressive property portfolio in Tribeca, while Travis has often spoken about his affection for the city.

On an episode of his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs star described New York as one of his favourite places to spend time.

"I think it's one of my favorite things to do in New York, just be one with the city and just kinda walk the streets and feel the electricity," he shared.

Reports have also suggested the couple may have chosen New York to accommodate a larger guest list, with an array of A-list names expected to attend what could be one of the most star-studded weddings in recent memory.

Taylor and Travis, who first sparked romance rumours in 2023, have carefully guarded their relationship despite intense public interest. Over the past three years, fans have watched their love story unfold from sold-out stadium shows to NFL sidelines, making their rumoured wedding one of the most eagerly anticipated celebrity events of the year.

For now, however, the couple are keeping quiet. And while Senator Whitehouse may be disappointed that Rhode Island appears to be out of the running, fans around the world are still eagerly waiting for the moment Taylor and Travis finally reveal where their next chapter will begin.
