Last month, Jesy Nelson shared her twin daughters' devastating Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type one diagnosis with the world. The star's social media was flooded with supportive message from fans and stars alike - and she's now revealed her Little Mix bandmates have "reached out" since she welcomed her twins last year.

Jesy, 34, was part of the girl group Little Mix with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards from their X-Factor inception and win in 2011 up until December 2020 when she exited the band for mental health reasons. Jesy went on to pursue a solo career and Little Mix continued on with the three remaining members until December 2021 when they announced they would be going on an indefinite hiatus at the end of their 2022 tour.

Jesy was recently on ITV's This Morning ahead of the release of her new Amazon Prime Video docuseries, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, on 13 February. When co-host Dermot O'Leary asked if the Little Mix girls had been in touch "since the babies", Jessie confirmed they had "all reached out".

"It's been lovely," she said, adding that it was "very healing" for her. The group had a public fallout with Jesy after her exit from the band, and went on to unfollow their former bandmate on social media.

"We were genuinely best friends," Jesy said of her relationship with her ex-bandmates. "Things happen in life. It doesn't always go how you think it's going to. But I think, three of us are mums now, we've all had time to heal, it's been nearly six years, and it's just one of those things that takes time."

Both Perrie and Leigh-Anne have since welcomed kids of their own. Perrie recently announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Alanis Valentine, with her fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in January 2026. The couple also share a four-year-old son named Axel.

Meanwhile, Leigh-Anne is a mum to twin daughters whom she welcomed in August 2021 with her husband, footballer Andre Gray.

Jesy welcomed her twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe prematurely eight months ago in June 2025 with her now-ex, singer Zion Foster. The star shared her twins' heartbreaking SMA 1 diagnosis in an emotional video posted to her Instagram in January 2026, sharing that her daughters "will probably never be able to walk".

She said her twins had the "most severe muscular disease that a baby can get," explaining the disease kills every muscle in the body.

"If it's not treated in time, your baby's life expectancy will not make it past the age of two." She said her girls will "probably will never regain their neck strength, so they will be disabled."

"I literally feel like my whole life has done a 360. I almost feel like I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children." The singer continued: "I truly believe my girls will defy all the odds, and with the right help, they will fight this and go on to do things that have never been done."

Raising awareness for SMA1

Since publicly sharing her twins' diagnosis, Jesy has continued to spread awareness for the disease and started a petition to get the condition added to the newborn blood spot screening test, also known as the heel prick test.

"I almost feel like I've got a duty of care to raise awareness about it," she said during an appearance on This Morning

Jesy shared in a post on 14 February that the petition has gathered 100,000 signatures, which she said was "truly incredible".
