In recent years, British actress, Ruth Jones, known for her iconic roles in Gavin and Stacey, Stella and more recently Netflix's Run Away, has caught attention for her slim appearance after losing four stone.
The Welsh-born actress has been exceptionally open in the past about losing weight, which reports say was sparked after she went on holiday in 2010.
"I came back from holiday - January 2010 - and we all overdo it on holiday, don't we? Something just clicked, I felt this is now or never, I wanted to make a positive change for me, and I haven't looked back."
Then, in 2019, Ruth explained how she managed to effectively lose weight. "Something just clicked, I felt this is now or never, I wanted to make a positive change for me, and I haven't looked back.
"I knew that I had months ahead of me writing Stella, and this was my chance to change my routine."
She told the Express: "It's taken me 22 months to lose 4.5 stone. Although I have done loads of diets in my time, I have never done it the old-fashioned way: taking in less calories than I was using," she said.
Ruth's latest role
Ruth's latest role couldn't have been more different from her beloved role as Nessa and saw her have to undergo "serious training."
"We had proper serious training for it, it was all taken very seriously – as it should be, you know," she told The Radio Times. I'd be lying if I said that it didn’t make me feel like a little bit kind of powerful onscreen.
"There is a flashback to a gunfight in an abandoned factory which Elena is involved in when she was a firearms officer. That was great fun to shoot. A big warehouse full of these big crates that we had to hide behind then come out shooting," she said.
Ruth continued: "I was gobsmacked at how many people were involved in setting up a scene like that – and I learned what was meant by a ‘squib’ – a fake explosion that mimics gunfire, and shots bouncing off surfaces. I had to be taught how to hold and fire a gun with blanks as that was a first for me. The guns are incredibly loud!"
