Regularly invited to perform for royalty, Katherine Jenkins has sung at high-profile events around the world. It was her desire to protect her mezzo-soprano voice that inspired her to create her luxury drinks brand, Cygnet, and its alcohol-free alternative, Cygnet Infinity. The drinks blend botanical ingredients including gentle-on-the-throat Manuka honey, which means that Katherine can enjoy them without compromising her voice.
Katherine, 45, is based in London and New York, the home city of her husband, the filmmaker Andrew Levitas. The couple have two children.
"Luxury is being able to toast every occasion, whether big or small"
The luxury I never compromise on is time with my family. Being with the people I love and doing what I want feels like the biggest luxury to me at the moment.
Friendships are a luxury; they’re so important. I don’t want to battle through life, just trying to get it done. We need to ensure that making time for our friends is a priority. My relationships are what keep me sane, and living in the US has actually strengthened my bonds with other expats, as we all make an effort to meet up, more so than when we’re in the UK.
My top luxury travel destination is the Maldives. We recently stayed at The Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru. We went there for our honeymoon and decided to go back with the kids because they’re learning to dive and it’s on an amazing dive site. A lot of people think of the Maldives as a romantic getaway, but for us, it was perfect as a family trip – my kids loved it.
For a luxury staycation, I love going somewhere I know I’m going to eat and drink well, in a location with beautiful walks. I loved Raymond Blanc’s [currently closed] Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.
Luxury at home is uncomplicated: pyjamas by Olivia von Halle, no makeup, hair up and left to rest. My hair is styled so often that giving it a break feels like an indulgence, helped by a Shu Uemura Silk Bloom Hair Masque. Evenings are at their best when we’re absorbed in a TV show – we’re currently loving The Night Manager – and counting down to bedtime, so that the house settles and the evening can begin.
Working out is a luxury in its own right. Life feels like a million moving parts, but time for fitness is non-negotiable for me. An hour in the morning, focused on movement, makes all the difference. I usually wear activewear from Alo Yoga, which also works well for the school run.
Luxury beauty has to have a restorative feeling. Essentials that help me to reset include Sarah Chapman’s Overnight Facial, Biodance’s Collagen Sheet Masks and Sisley Paris’s Nutritive Lip Balm. And Keren Bartov’s Advanced Skin Serum is a new obsession of mine.
Luxury, to me, is celebrating the small moments: being able to toast every occasion, whether big or small, in the most elegant and luxurious way and making time to celebrate all the moments.
