Ulkrika Jonsson has unveiled the incredible results of a new approach to her skincare after admitting to having "given up on my face" for many years. The star showed off her amazing glow, after addressing the "consequences of years of sun exposure" in a series of new pictures.

In a post on Instagram, Ulrika, 58, could be seen confidently posing for the camera in a variety of fresh-faced selfies. Captioning the carousel, she wrote: "Up until last year, I had largely given up on my face. I had learnt to accept the consequences of years of sun exposure because I didn't realise there was anything I could do about it."

The former Gladiators host then explained that she had decided to seek the expert support of a clinic, where she'd undergone a number of treatments. "Up until last year I had largely given up on my face," she shared. "I had learnt to accept the consequences of years of sun exposure because I didn't realise there was anything I could do about it."

The star continued: "For me, it was not about turning back the clock but it was the start of a relationship which had its basis in reassurance and realistic expectations. I am more than happy with laughter lines and wrinkles. They are, after all the marks of a life lived."

Ulrika revealed that both a "whole new skincare regime, incredible treatments and better habits" have played a part in her transformation. She added: "I am beyond thrilled with my new skin and the reflection that now meets me in the mirror every day. I think we need to remember that 'ageing' is natural but above all else, it's a privilege. How we, as individuals, choose to age is our prerogative."

The former weather presenter's post has received more than 6,900 'likes', as well as numerous comments praising her new youthful look. One person wrote, "you look amazing", while another shared, "skin looks incredible".

Ageing gracefully

Last year, Ulrika - who is mother to four children Cameron, 30, Bo, 25, Martha, 20, and Malcolm, 16, and has been married three times - opened up about how she will "never look like the fresh 21-year-old that used to greet you first thing in the morning by the weather board" as she hit back against criticisms about her complexion. On Instagram, the star wrote: "I'm not ashamed to say that I am a sun worshipper and will no doubt pay the price for that.

"But UV lamps and salt baths, astringent solutions and creams were a feature of my life since I was a small child. I have uneven pigmentation doubtlessly not helped by ageing. I sometimes use filters in my pics because it’s easier than foundation and less painful. I work tirelessly in my garden year round and often in the sun."

Ulrika - who began her career as a weather presenter in the late 1980s - added: "I rarely sunbathe any more. Haven't had a sunbed for six months - which I do occasionally in winter months. Not ashamed. I have not had a holiday - of any kind - since 2018. That's seven years. So, I understand that an over-tanned, imperfect and AGEING female face offends you. But try to listen to the words rather than constantly judge a woman's appearance."
