Victoria Beckham has said she and her husband David Beckham have "always tried to be the best parents" when probed about her estranged son, Brooklyn, in a recent interview.
The 51-year-old fashion designer has not publicly acknowledged the much-rumoured rift between her and Brooklyn, which made headlines in January when the eldest Beckham son said he did not want to reconcile with his parents in a lengthy statement on social media.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Victoria was asked about Brooklyn, but did not use his name in her response.
"I think that we've always - we love our children so much," she said. "We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children.
"And you know, that's all I really want to say about it," she added.
Victoria also told the publication that the negative press regarding her family has not affected her fashion business. "I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good," she said, adding: "I don't think they're buying my eyeliner just because it's me."
Victoria's collaboration with Gap
In the interview, Victoria also opened up about her new collaboration with Gap.
The mother-of-four's fashion brand is expanding its retail footprint, opening stores in New York and Paris and pushing its clothes into the mainstream with a new spring-summer collaboration with Gap. A second collaboration will follow in the autumn.
"It enables me to reach a customer that I'm not already reaching," Victoria said of the collaboration. "When I look at the marketing power of the Gap, that’s huge for me."
The former Spice Girl also revealed that her children wore babyGap as youngsters. "It's an American institution," she said.
Brooklyn's bombshell statement
In January, Brooklyn made several claims about his parents in a statement posted on Instagram, in which he said he did not wish to "reconcile" with them.
"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private," wrote the 27-year-old.
"Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life," wrote the former photographer.
Brooklyn claimed that his parents tried to "bribe" him into selling the commercial rights to his own name and accused them of "trying endlessly to ruin" his relationship with his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.
He also alleged that his mother "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola at their 2022 wedding and "danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone".
"I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," he wrote.
David and Victoria's olive branch
In March, David and Victoria appeared to extend an olive branch to their son on his 27th birthday. Taking to Instagram, the pair shared throwback photos to mark the occasion.
David, 50, shared two images, including one of the former footballer and his wife holding baby Brooklyn in a pool on holiday.
Victoria shared the same poolside snap and captioned it: "Happy 27th birthday Brooklyn. I love you so much."
