Sitting proudly on the pavements of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, California, the Walk of Fame is an honour bestowed on celebrities who have significantly contributed to the entertainment industry.

For most, seeing their name emblazoned across one of the terrazzo-and-brass stars embedded in the historic sidewalks is a clear marker of career success and offers them icon status.

The likes of Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, and Judy Garland have all been immortalised in the streets, with many more vying for a space among the nearly 2,800 plaques already in the ground.

However, there are some famous faces who rejected the honour and declined the chance to appear on the Walk of Fame. Let's take a look at who they were…

Clint Eastwood

Despite being one of the most well-known names in Hollywood, Clint Eastwood declined his multiple nominations to become a name on the famous line of stars.

The now 95-year-old has always steered clear of pomp and ceremony and prefers to let his work speak for him, instead of physical legacies like awards.

Rising to fame in the 1990s as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts, 58, was selected for the introduction to the famous walkway but declined numerous times.

The mother-of-three was reportedly not interested in attending the very public ceremony as she values her private life.

In George Clooney's case, it wasn't so much that he declined the honour but more that he never scheduled a date for its unveiling, a mandatory part of becoming a recipient.

According to IMDb, he failed to pin down a date due to his busy calendar and so never received the star that he needed to be there in person to receive.

Making a name for himself by starring in iconic films such as The Godfather, Scarface, and Serpico, Al Pacino, 86, declined his star on the iconic walkway.

Like George, he also failed to schedule the in-person ceremony attendance and so, missed out on cementing his name in the pavement.

Since her death, Katharine Hepburn first found fame in the 1930s and went on to win four Academy Awards throughout her career.

She famously declined her star due to reports that she didn't want people walking all over her. The actress was a notoriously private person and made only rare public appearances.

Portraying some of the most memorable film characters of all time, it may come as a surprise that Johnny Depp doesn't have his own star on the Walk of Fame.

No real reason was ever given as to why he has not acquired one; however, he has never been one for big accolades throughout his career.

Bob Dylan

Singer and star subject of Timothee Chalamet's hit movie A Complete Unknown, Bob Dylan is an iconic musician, now 85-years-old.

It is likely that he never submitted an application for the selection process or showed interest in being nominated for the stars.

Woody Allen

Previously stating that the "whole concept of awards is silly," in 1974, Woody Allen shared his distaste for Hollywood across his career.

The only time he attended the Oscars was in 2002 to make a special plea for New York, not to accept an award.

Selected in 1995, Whitney Houston was meant to have a star; however, the nomination expired because she did not set a date for the ceremony.

Further reports also suggest that she didn't like the idea that people would be walking across her name.
