Zara Tindall, the late Queen Elizabeth II's eldest granddaughter and Olympic equestrian, is one of the most down-to-earth members of the royal family, from her humble demeanour right down to her relatable diet, though obviously with some extra energy to help with her sporty side!
For her lunch, she has revealed that she tends to go for something simple but energising, as she revealed in an interview with Sunday Times Magazine back in 2015.
"Lunch is quick and simple, like soup and a sandwich or eggs and toast," the Olympian revealed. "I don't diet, but I try to eat well and not eat too many carbohydrates or sugary things."
Though a soup and a sandwich is a little more vague, and perhaps varying in complexity, a simple egg and toast meal is a highly nutritious pick that's loved by many members of the royal family across generations for both breakfast and dinner.
Faye James, HELLO!'s Senior Editor, who is also an accredited nutritionist, explains that eggs are an "excellent source of complete protein, meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids."
She also notes that: "Eggs are also rich in B vitamins, choline, vitamin D and healthy fats, all of which support brain health, energy levels and hormone function."
Other members of the royal family also love eggs
Zara didn't specify exactly how she likes her eggs, but we do know for certain how her uncle, King Charles, and cousin, Prince Harry, take theirs.
Royal author Tom Quinn, writing in Yes Ma'am, his book about the history of the royal staff, claimed that the King insisted that "six eggs should be cooked so that at least two will be just as he likes them," as they're famously difficult to get right.
Although the royal family has previously denied a similar claim that was made by Jeremy Paxman, who stated that the king has seven boiled eggs cooked for his breakfast, they only refuted the mention of boiled eggs. In fact, they suggested that he prefers 'coddled eggs,' a delicate type of soft-boiled eggs that are gently cooked in a small, covered container for an extra runny yolk.
Prince Harry is also a fan of eggs, and, even though his wife, Meghan Markle, is the main cook of the family, apparently cooks them quite well! In an episode of her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, with her friend Abigail Spencer, the Duchess of Sussex said that her husband makes a "great breakfast," adding: "He made great scrambled eggs the other day."
