Sydney Sweeney proved that menswear-inspired boxer shorts can be just as sultry as lace lingerie as she reinvented the underwear-as-outerwear trend during a recent outing in New York City this week.
The actress wore an oversized blue button-down shirt, left partially undone to reveal a hint of her midriff, paired with slouchy denim jeans. Elevating the look was a crisp white pair of boxer shorts peeking out from beneath her jeans, delivering the ultimate it-girl sartorial statement. The casual look was completed with a pair of white pointed-toe heels adorned with delicate lace embroidery.
Sydney's blonde bombshell locks were styled into a bouncy blowout while she concealed her eyes with a pair of chic black shades.
The boxer short domination was ever so prevalent during the London Fashion Week spring/summer 2026 shows. The likes of Harri, Jawara Alleyne, Chopova Lowena, Conner Ives, and Simone Rocha all unveiled looks that merged drop waist-bands with bold briefs.
The look has also peppered its way to New York, with Calvin Klein's signature shorts influencing the likes of Moschino in Milan. Exposed boxers put an androgynous spin on the broader outerwear and underwear trend that was resurrected on the autumn/winter 2025 runway, with risque, hybrid pieces blending sensuality with contemporary dressing..
Simone Rocha styled fuzzy fur bras with leather jackets and billowing skirts, Chanel exposed bras with tailored skirt suits. Over at Givenchy, Sarah Burton paired barely-there bras with sheer, mesh dresses.
Meanwhile, romantic slip dresses were championed during the spring/summer 2024 shows, with the likes of Coperni, Gucci and Versace all embracing iterations of the whimsical négligée. With delicate mesh, sumptuous silk, intricate lace, and flirtatious hems, the look takes classic eveningwear to a daring new level.
Sydney's white boxers are courtesy of her new lingerie brand SYRN, which she launched at the end of January. The 28-year-old shared insight into the first four pieces from the collection, named Seductress, Romantic, Playful and Comfy, with photos of her on different sets wearing the lacy lingerie.
"The secret is finally out…say hello to @syrn," she wrote in the caption. "This is lingerie you wear for YOU, no explanation, no apology…there's so much more I can't wait to show you. Xoxo, Syd."
As per the press release, Sydney opened up about what inspired her to create the lingerie brand. "I was in the sixth grade with DDs. I hated the bra I had to wear. When I bought my first cute bra that actually fit, I wore it to pieces. Designing for different bodies is a huge part of Syrn," she shared.
"I wanted to create a place where women can move between all the different versions of who we are. I love working on cars, I go waterskiing, I'll dress up for the red carpet, then go home to snuggle my dogs. I'm not one thing, no woman is."
