On Friday, the ever-evolving Victoria Beckham took to Instagram to share the news that her cosmetic brand, Victoria Beckham Beauty, has reissued her signature scent Portofino '97.
Alongside the news, Victoria, 51, shared an artistic photograph of herself in a plunging black maxi dress featuring mesh inserts at the hips and a bold V-neck. A selection of necklaces adorned her neck, and the wife of David Beckham looked at the camera with a sultry expression. Her makeup looked immaculate, and her hair tumbled enchantingly over her shoulders.
The former Spice Girl penned: "THE RUSH OF SOMETHING REAL. In 1997, a quiet trip to Portofino became a memory that never faded and the start of a forever love. Our most-loved fragrance, Portofino ’97, evokes the unforgettable romance."
The fashion designer recalled, "I remember the light. I remember how the hotel smelled and how exciting that time was. I remember it all like it was yesterday."
Proving that age is no barrier to daring fashion, the beauty mogul delivered a masterclass in how to wear plunging necklines in your 50s. By keeping the rest of the dress simple and cleverly accessorising with beads and necklaces, Victoria kept the look modest and fashion-forward.
Victoria's ageless style
A firm believer in having fun with one's style, Victoria has spoken about the notion of dressing for one's age. "The thing with ageing is that it is what it is. I always remember Marc Jacobs saying to me when he turned 60 that it was better than the alternative of not turning 60. It's good advice! But generally, I feel good about things," she told The Sunday Times in 2024.
"I still think it's important to evolve and try new things. I don't ever want to be that person that is in a rut," Victoria noted. "Because I think women probably get to a certain age where they're scared, and I think it is important to change it up, whether it's, you know, a different shoulder on a tailored jacket - you know, maybe more of a boxy shape as opposed to more fitted. It's those little, tiny differences that can keep you relevant."
For Victoria, getting older has made her more confident. "I am comfortable with who I am, I accept how I look, and I make the best of what I have. I feel, professionally and personally, really accomplished at 49," Victoria told the publication in 2023.
