It's been 10 years since Amal Clooney made her Cannes Film Festival debut – and her look is just as captivating a decade on. The human rights barrister, 48, stepped onto the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès wearing a daffodil-hued Atelier Versace.

The gown, which had her looking just like Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast, featured a one-shouldered bodice and a billowing, full-length skirt with a leg split cut to just below the waistline. It also came with a train that trailed elegantly behind her to add to the spectacle.

Playing into the drama of the outfit, Amal wore gold gladiator-style heels and contrasted the pale yellow hue of the gown with coral drop earrings by Cartier and a red lip courtesy of Charlotte Tilbury

Breaking down the look, stylist Constance Richardson tells us: "Amal's Cannes debut dress stands the test of time because it balances classic elegance with modern glamour. The soft draping and one-shoulder shape flatter her beautifully, while the butter-yellow shade feels especially on trend again now, proving timeless colours always resurface."

In 2025, Amal made a return to Cannes – but without husband George. Taking centre stage on the red carpet, the barrister dazzled in a slinky black silk gown designed by John Galliano for Christian Dior.

It featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, corseted bodice and sweeping skirt. It was a quietly rebellious look that defied the festival's dress code. Just ahead of the 2025 edition, organisers made a last-minute announcement that they would be banning nudity and gowns with voluminous silhouettes, including trains.

Despite this, fashion critics celebrated Amal's take on a simple black dress. She accessorised with intricate leaf-shaped drop earrings and a compact clutch. In George's place was Amal's glamorous mother, Baria Alamuddin.
