The Duchess of Sussex stunned onlookers on the red carpet on Saturday night as she attended the 2026 Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala, which was held at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

The high-profile event celebrated Black-owned businesses, and in celebration, the wife of Prince Harry wore a breathtaking, oyster-toned strapless gown by Harbison Studio. The design featured an off-the-shoulder, sweetheart neckline that was built around a fitted bodice.

With a statement flash of black fabric at the top, the dress also featured a body-skimming, fishtail cut and a floor-grazing hem.

It made for a charming, Hollywood-style silhouette. Keeping in with traditional glamour, Meghan, 44, wore a black shawl with sleeves that draped down her back and pooled around her feet, which were adorned with Stuart Weitzman's 'Nudist 100' heels, adding a true Old Hollywood movie-star touch.

Princess Diana wore a similar (but shorter) dress in 1991

As soon as I saw this dress, I had a hunch I had seen something similar before. As a fashion and beauty editor who has been specialising in royal style for over eight years, plenty of styles remain etched in my mind. The late Princess Diana wore a similar frock back in 1991, albeit a little shorter than Meghan's.

King Charles's former wife was, at the time, patron of the British Youth Opera. As part of her work, she attended a rendition of 'La Bohème' at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London in the early '90s.

Prince William and Harry's mother donned a charming, knee-length dress by British-born Polish designer Tomasz Starzewski. As you can see, it was made in a very similar, blush pink hue with beige undertones, and also featured contrasting black inserts, particularly at the top of the off-the-shoulder neckline. Although it also showcased layered pleats, the colourway mirrors Meghan's latest frock, and has a similar satin texture. At the time, Diana accessorised with a pair of Chanel gold-plated black enamel and pearl button earrings - a modern finish to her show-stopping look.

Meghan has a Lady Dior bag - which was named after her late mother-in-law

Elegant mother-of-two Meghan memorably stepped out in NYC in 2021, wearing a sleek black coat over a chic white Valentino mini dress. At the time, all eyes were on her accessories.

The As Ever founder paid a touching tribute to her late mother-in-law by wearing Christian Dior's 'Lady D-Lite' Bag – named after the former Princess of Wales herself. The Lady Dior bag was originally known as the 'Chouchou' but changed its name in 1996 after Diana was seen using it. The royal was rarely seen without the statement bag, and it became synonymous with her effortless style.
