The Princess of Wales looked stunning on 26 February as she stepped out with the Prince of Wales for a visit to Powys to celebrate community ahead of St David's Day. Kate, 44, stunned in a sumptuous burgundy Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coat.
The figure-skimming outerwear, a piece masterminded by her bridal designer, featured an unusual silhouette where the lapels met the waistline, double-breasted buttons, and, for added drama, 1980s-style boxy shoulder pads.

Kate's recycled look
© GettyTo long-term followers of Kate's (impeccable) fashion, her look from her outing to Powys on Thursday may look familiar. The royal donned the exact same coat and boots pairing in December 2024 while joining King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William in welcoming the Emir of Qatar and his first wife, Sheikha Jawaher, to Windsor for Qatar's UK state visit.

She proved her It-girl status through her Chanel 'Art Nouvelle Small Flap Bag in Burgundy'.

An expert weighs in
© Getty ImagesKate's 2026 version caught the eye of fashion stylist, Leanne Jones. She told us: "This is unquestionably one of Kate's best looks. Her height works beautifully with these long, formal coats, elongating her statuesque, athletic frame, which carries tailoring exceptionally well. This piece defines her shape while projecting authority and adding breadth through the shoulders."
As for her shoulder pads, Leanne reveals: "Shoulder pads are very much back, but in a far more refined way than their 1980s counterparts. The key to wearing them now is balance - so keep the lower half slim and streamlined, and define the waist with either expert tailoring or a belt. That contrast between structure on top and shape at the waist creates a beautifully proportioned hourglass silhouette."
Princess Kate's red carpet moment
© WireImageThe outing in Wales came after the Princess of Wales stepped out on 22 February to attend the BAFTAs at London's Royal Festival Hall. Opting for a gown she first wore in 2019, Kate rocked an ethereal Gucci number featuring a deep V-shaped neckline, velvet waistband and floaty skirt.
© WireImageThe dress, which came in understated shades of pink, was styled with the Greville earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Choker Bracelet from the royal archive, elevating the look to uber regal heights. Meanwhile, her brunette locks added to the fairytale quality of her look as her usual neat waves were swapped out for brushed-out, fluffy curls that channelled a pre-Raphaelite aesthetic.
