The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram at the weekend, sharing a gloriously idyllic video of herself arranging beautiful pink flowers in a vase.
Meghan looked elegant and ladylike in the footage, which showed her wearing one of her trademark items, the humble rollneck, and she also smoothed her raven hair back with a headband.
Meghan, 44, has never been seen publicly wearing a headband before. The royal wore a variety of headpieces during her time as a working royal, but the humble headband was not part of her attire.
The mother-of-two is known for her laid-back, California style, so this accessory was a surprising choice for the former Suits star.
Princess Kate, the queen of headbands
Headbands are loved by Meghan's sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, who has plenty of the iconic hair accessory in a myriad of colours. Her sensational headband collection has helped put the somewhat traditional style on the map again, and it's now considered a chic addition to any outfit.
As a fashion editor who has been specialising in royal style for over eight years, my favourite headband that Prince William's wife has ever worn was in 2022. Then known as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate delighted onlookers at Westminster Abbey to mark Anzac Day that year.
The royal's elegant cream coat dress by Alexander McQueen was widely adored, but it was her headband that stole the show.
Kate's headband was by esteemed milliner Jane Taylor, the label the royal often heads to when she wants a stunning headpiece. Seen as a work of art, Kate's design cost £830 at the time. Handcrafted in white, it featured an eye-catching black bow at the nape of the neck. The brand's website said of the style: "A sensational all-rounder halo headpiece made from iconic British tweed - ideal for weddings, smart events, and races - topped off with a fetching tuxedo satin bow at the nape of the neck for a smart finish."
In 2018, Kate sported one of her more directional headbands at her son Prince Louis' christening. Turning to Jane Taylor once again, her £960 creation was known as the 'Cassandra' and featured a thick platform and had striking appliqué flowers stitched on the top.
It looked perfect alongside her glamorous attire, a coat dress by Alexander McQueen. We loved the catalogue of trends that were featured in that classic gown, including a deep V-neckline, exaggerated puff sleeves and modest midi hem. The headband was the ideal accompanying accessory.
