Queen Mary of Denmark is currently touring Australia with her husband, King Frederik X, for a royal visit Down Under. While their presence has been well documented, it was the Queen's fashion that turned heads as fans picked their favourite moments online.
The Danish royals attended a reception at Hobart's Government House on 19 March in Tasmania, where the Queen chose to wear a divisive pair of trousers.
Her outfits have been a talking point of the five-day tour; however, her Carla Zampatti crepe petal parachute trousers caused a commotion online as fans debated whether the bold look was a hit or not.
The black tailored trousers featured a wide barrel leg that split at her ankle, allowing the material to flow from her leg in an asymmetrical hemline. The fabric was ruched at the seam, and the trousers were high-waisted.
She paired the statement piece with a sheer white embroidered Clea shirt that had a high-neck and bell sleeves, which cuffed around her wrists. The Danish queen added a white tank top underneath and wore a pair of black Gianvito Rossi heels with a white cap on the toe.
Adding some flair to her two-toned outfit, she wore light blue and turquoise mixed stone and diamond chandelier earrings and let her chestnut hair hang around her shoulders in loose waves.
The Danish royal sparks debate
Fans on Instagram couldn't quite reach a unanimous vote as to whether they were in favour of the unique look, with one typing underneath a post on Royal Fashion Police's account: "Original! I don't love this look, but I appreciate it!"
In defence of the ensemble, another argued: "What a look, all the art of following the weather and transcending these kinds of pants that don't fit everyone... Bravo Madam…"
"How does she look so cool in these ridiculous pants?!?," a social media user asked, while a separate account commented: "Sensational and knows our Aussie style", and another user said: "Risky! YES!", with a clapping emoji.
Queen Mary mirrors Hollywood
The 54-year-old's Australian wardrobe featured some beloved recycled pieces that were so striking they earned a spot on a Hollywood blockbuster's movie poster, featuring Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
While attending a dinner with the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, and his wife, Jodie Haydon, in Canberra on day three of the tour, Mary chose a flowing black gown with stitched floral detailing.
The dress, made by Etro, featured a deep V-neck and stopped just above the Queen's ankle. Covered in a mismatch of colours and paisley-inspired swirls, the skirt hem was rimmed with a jazzy pattern and swished around her legs.
She had previously worn the dress in 2024 and 2025, but chose to wear her hair in an updo both times, whereas in 2026 she let her brunette locks hang loose around her shoulders.
The mother-of-four's evening dress was remarkably similar to a gown worn by Julia, 58, in her movie, Ticket to Paradise, with George as her co-star and on-screen husband.
Made by the same designer, the Pretty Woman star wore the floral black creation in the trailer for the rom-com, which also starred Emily in Paris's Lucas Bravo and The Last of Us actress Kaitlyn Dever.
