Princess Charlene is the ultimate style chameleon and is never afraid to experiment with her look. But for her 11-year-old daughter, it's all about keeping it age-appropriate and classic.

Princess Gabriella proved just that on 20 March as she stepped out alongside her mother to attend the opening ceremony of the 14th Sainte-Dévote rugby tournament at the Stade Louis-II. The daughter of Prince Albert II wore wide-leg dark-wash jeans with a baby pink collarless jacket.

The jacket teamed nicely with her bubblegum pink ballet slipper-style shoes, and she wore her hair down and straight. It was a look that Angela Kyte, a luxury stylist with a decade of experience in the fashion industry, tells us worked perfectly for the occasion.

"Princess Gabriella's look is a lovely example of how royal childrenswear often leans into timeless, almost nostalgic silhouettes. The soft ballet-inspired elements, from the delicate cardigan to the classic Mary Jane shoes, create a look that feels elegant, age-appropriate, and quietly refined," she tells us.

"It's a style that prioritises simplicity and charm over trend, which is very much in keeping with traditional royal dressing."

Angela adds that what makes this aesthetic so appealing to royal parents is its sense of continuity. "These pieces photograph beautifully, avoid looking dated, and echo a more classic European approach to children's wear," the stylist explains. "The muted tones and soft textures also ensure the look feels polished without being overly styled, allowing the child's personality to remain at the forefront.

"There's also a subtle practicality behind it. Ballet flats and simple knits are comfortable, versatile, and easy to move in, which is essential for public engagements. It's a thoughtful balance of formality and ease."

Princess Gabriella wore jeans to the Monaco Christmas Tree Ceremony

It's not the first time Princess Gabriella has worn denim on a public engagement, despite its association with casual outings. In December 2026, she joined her parents and twin brother, Prince Jacques, at the annual Monaco Christmas Tree ceremony and traditional gift distribution for the children of Monaco.

For the festive occasion, Gabriella's go-to jeans were paired with suede winter boots and a sweet faux fur jacket. She wore a child-friendly version of her mother's look, which featured jeans, heeled gingerbread-hued boots, and a cream high-neck jumper.

Gabrielle Mai, a global fashion stylist with seven years of experience, told us at the time of Gabriella's outing that the keys to dressing a little girl in jeans were choosing straight-leg or gently flared jeans for a timeless silhouette that looks smart without feeling restrictive and ensuring the sturdy denim was balanced by softer textures on top.
