Princess Beatrice will not join members of the royal family for the Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel this year, it was confirmed on Monday. Amid the fallout of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, are making "alternative plans" on Easter Sunday, HELLO! understands, and the decision was made with the support of King Charles.

However, in 2017, Beatrice joined members of her family at the service, including the late Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales, and wore one of her most memorable Easter looks. The royal, now 37, chose an All Saints knee-skimming number featuring laser-cut detailing on the sleeves and neckline.

The A-line garment also featured a cinched waist and horizontal lace detailing on the skirt. She paired the 'Rowan' dress with a pair of aubergine-hued velvet shoes with a block heel, a satin clutch in a complementary shade of purple, and a gold fascinator featuring floral detailing.

Fashion stylist Sian Clarke of Styled by Sian has taken a look back into the archive to explain the thinking behind this look. "Princess Beatrice’s dress from Easter 2017 is probably one she wouldn’t choose again. It felt much more fashion-forward and carefree compared to her go-to style today," says Sian.

"Her wardrobe has since evolved to better reflect her more grown-up role within the Royal Family. The cut-out trend leans more towards fashion and moment-driven styling, rather than the timeless, classic pieces royals often choose for public engagements as part of their duties.

"While the look was fun, pretty, and youthful, it doesn’t quite align with the more polished and refined aesthetic she now embraces," Sian adds.

Of her style now, the stylist explains: "[Beatrice] appears far more comfortable in her own skin, choosing pieces that reflect her more mature lifestyle and personal style. Her outfits now feel considered, elegant, and enduring – a natural progression that mirrors both her personal growth and her public role."
