It's a day for celebration in the Danish royal household as King Frederik and Queen Mary's eldest daughter, Princess Isabella, turns 19. To mark the occasion, Isabella featured in a set of new portrait photos with her skirt stealing the show.
As identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, the young royal sported the black tulle tutu-style midi skirt from Giambattista Valli Paris's 2019 collaboration with H&M. The dramatic piece featured metallic detailing, layered ruffle detailing, and felt straight from Black Swan with its balletic silhouette.
It was styled with black suede slingback heels by Tony Bianco, as well as a cream jumper and the 'Life' bracelet by Ole Lynggaard. Adding to the youthful quality of the look, Isabella wore her brunette hair down and styled in loose curls.
Princess Isabella steps into her own
It was a look that caught the eye of fashion stylist Sian Clarke of Styled by Sian.
"Princess Isabella has such a contemporary twist on royal style, and I think she’s going to be a pioneer for the way royals choose to dress moving forward," Sian tells us.
"Her birthday outfit feels like a beautiful blend of two styles. The first: chic, classic, calm, and confident, reflected in the neutrals and the simplicity of the silhouette. Then the second half… that incredible skirt. It brings drama, personality, and a real sense of self."
The fashion stylist explains that this look is a real indicator of the person Princess Isabella is evolving into. Sian explains: "To me, it reflects faithfulness, maturity, strong self-understanding, and a desire to show who she truly is.
"I absolutely love this new direction she's taking with her style. She’s respecting her royal status and stepping confidently into who she’s becoming."
Budding style chameleon
Prior to her birthday portrait, Princess Isabella was the model older sister at the confirmation of her twin siblings, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, on 18 April.
For the special occasion, Isabella chose a forest green trouser suit. The formal ensemble was far more structured than the playful tulle skirt she chose for her birthday portrait. It was styled with a neutral headband, heels in the same green hue, and Queen Alexandrine's Pink Pearl Drop Brooch.
She matched the stylish energy of her mother, who donned a similar navy trouser suit by Harris Wharf.
