We are still reeling over the newest member of the royal family, Harriet Sperling, who said "I do" to Peter Phillips in a traditional church ceremony in the Cotswolds at the weekend.

The bride embraced an exquisite, timeless look with her Emilia Wickstead wedding dress, which was a custom-made creation for the mother-of-one.

The ensemble featured long lace sleeves and a high square neckline. Crafted from Italian crêpe, the dress was formulated into a statuesque column shape. Her ethereal, sweeping veil gave her an almost fairytale stance, and she finished the look with a diamond and pearl tiara.

Although it was hard to get a glimpse of her shoes, Jimmy Choo has confirmed that she wore the brand's 'Love Sling Back 85' heels, which cost £675.

The website says of the style: "Our signature Love pump evolves as a sleek slingback silhouette. Set on a slim 85mm heel, they are designed with a dramatic pointed toe and cut higher on the foot, allowing for more coverage. This Italian-crafted pair is presented in lustrous ivory satin, with a slingback strap and hand-sculpted sole to ensure a comfortable fit."

Why are slingbacks more comfortable than regular high heels?

As the official description states, comfort is key. Originally designed in the 1940s, the humble slingback is a bridge between flats and stilettos, and many brides are advised to sport this shape on their big day, as they offer less pressure to the foot. Due to the open-back, slingbacks give the rear of the foot room to breathe, stopping it from being enclosed against the heel cup of regular shoe shapes. This eliminates painful rubbing, chafing, and blisters.

Many slingbacks, like Harriet's, are also adjustable with a buckle, meaning you can loosen the straps throughout the day, which mirrors the freedom of a sandal.

Harriet's tiara

It has been said that Harriet's resplendent tiara cemented her regality. The tiara was loaned from the jeweller Pragnell, who also crafted her diamond earrings and engagement ring. It added a heritage dimension as the brand has a close relationship with the royal family and even owns the design archives of Philip Antrobus, who made Queen Elizabeth II's historic engagement ring.
