The Duchess of Edinburgh wowed the crowds on Saturday, 13 June at Trooping the Colour 2026. Looking suitably elegant, the wife of Prince Edward kept it simple in an off-white dress that was designed with a sharp collar and had a belted waist.
The mother-of-two added a complementary white hat which boasted angular floral detail, and accessorised with a pair of stunning diamond drop earrings. The blonde travelled to Buckingham Palace in a carriage with Princess Anne's husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, as both their spouses were part of the procession, riding on horseback.
The event has marked the monarch's official birthday for over 260 years. Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians take part in the display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare. The parade travels from Buckingham Palace down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade and closes with a Royal Air Force fly-past.
Sophie's best Trooping the Colour moments
The royal always appears sartorially stylish at official royal events, and some of her best fashion moments have been at Trooping the Colour.
In 2025, Sophie donned a green silk dress with three-quarter puff sleeves and an elegant pillbox hat.
In 2024, the Duchess of Edinburgh looked resplendent in a canary yellow dress by Beulah London with a round neckline. Her sunny gown had voluminous sleeves, and it featured a floaty, fluid skirt. Amplifying Sophie's look was the 'Persephone Crepe Hat in Yellow' from Jane Taylor Millinery with netted detailing across her face. She added drop earrings from Giulia Barela.
2023 saw Sophie turn to Beulah London once again, donning the same fluted-sleeve dress, but in white. The round-necked number was styled with a coordinating flower-adorned fascinator and layered jewels in varying metallic finishes.
Meanwhile, in 2022, the royal channelled Barbie in a pink and white gingham look with structured double-breasted buttoning and piped faux pockets.
Before the absence of Trooping the Colour in 2021 and 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sophie was seen in 2019 with both of her children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, now Earl of Wessex, in an unexpected emerald green dress with a high neck and a bow-adorned waist belt.
