Antiques Road Trip is the beloved daytime show that has been keeping viewers entertained for the past 16 years. The BBC show has a host of regular faces, including Danny Sebastian, Hetty Jago, Ishy Khan and Margie Cooper, who all aim to earn the most money for charity as they tour the nation's antiques stores.
Margie has been a familiar face to BBC viewers, having made her first appearance on its flagship Antiques Roadshow back in 1985. The star is certainly a fountain of knowledge for the show, having run her own antiques business for over three decades. But before this, Margie worked as both a journalist and a fashion model!
Find out all you need to know about the antiques expert here, including her surprising job before the BBC show…
Antique and broadcasting career
Margie, now 77, has been an expert on Antiques Road Trip since 2010 after running her own antiques business for over 30 years. It seems her expert knowledge was passed down through her family as Margie's grandmother was also an antiques dealer, sparking her curiosity for vintage and unique items.
During the height of her success in the antiques world, Margie moved to TV after joining the BBC's flagship show, Antiques Roadshow, in 1985. After impressing viewers for many years, Margie was then enlisted to join the expert panels for spin-off Antiques Road Trip in 2010. The antiques expert has also appeared a number of times on the celebrity version of the BBC show.
Margie often shares pictures of her trips around the UK on her Instagram, including snaps with fellow experts Tim Medhurst, Mark Hill and Danny Sebastain.
Margie's surprising career ventures
As well as running her antiques business, the presenter also previously worked as a journalist and columnist, and wrote regularly for the BBC's Replica Luxury Handbag and Antiques Magazine.
In her younger years, Margie also worked as a fashion model and graced covers of a number of fashion magazines and campaigns, but it seems antiques were where her true passion lay.
Margie's family life away from Antiques Road Trip
Margie tends to keep her family life private, and while she has been married to her husband, Mick, for a number of years, the couple have never shared the date they walked down the aisle.
The couple currently live in Cheshire and they share two grown-up children, who have started their own families. In December, Margie shared a photo of herself with her two daughters and grandsons as they visited Jane Austen's house in Chawton on the author's 250th birthday month.
