A Place in the Sun remains essential viewing, even 25 years after the show first aired. Over the years, we've loved watching the property experts find couples their perfect home away from home and the presenters have become fan favourites.
One of our favourite stars on the show has been Jean Johansson, who first appeared on the series since 2018. But what do we know about her life when the cameras are off? Keep reading to find out...
Famous husband and family
Jean is married to Finnish football player, Jonatan Johansson. The couple tied the knot in 2008 and now share a 13-year-old son Jonathan who they nickname "Junior". Along with her husband, Jean has successfully bought, developed and sold several properties.
The pair met while Jean was still at school with a part-time job at a golf club in Langbank. Chatting about meeting her husband for the first time, the 40-year-old said: "He used to come in and play a lot of golf. We met there... I had no interest in settling down with anyone. I was getting ready to finish school and go off travelling. I was just starting my life and not looking for a boyfriend at all."
Jonatan, who plays as a forward, is best known for his stints with Rangers and Charlton Athletic. The 46-year-old was also a regular in the Finland national team, earning a total of 106 caps.
Back in 2018, the couple renewed their marriage vows. Jean told the Glasgow Times at the time: "I can’t believe it. We were just a pair of kids running around Glasgow and here we are 20 years later."
Career
Jean began her television career after coming first place in a nationwide competition to find a fresh new face of children's TV. After a long and successful career presenting shows on CBBC and The Disney Channel, the presenter pivoted into daytime television.
Nowadays, alongside jetting off abroad to film A Place in the Sun, Jean fronts BBC's Animal Park. She has also hosted Key To a Fortune, which follows the presenter on the hunt for the rightful heirs to properties.
The presenter has also had stints on ITV's This Morning, and even took part in Celebrity Masterchef in 2018.
Eyesight
Jean lives with presbyopia, which is the gradual loss of the ability to focus on nearby objects, and she previously called her diagnosis "life-changing". Writing about it in the Sunday Mail, she said: "I'm not entirely sure why it took me so long to admit I needed glasses. I suppose it's partly to do with fighting the ageing process, but I've accepted that I'm getting older and my vision deteriorating is part of that."
The presenter added: "I'm no longer stealing my mum's glasses to read a menu in a restaurant. I doubt if I'll be joining Jennifer Aniston and Rihanna as the world's sexiest spec wearers, but I love my new frames and I think that they look great.
