Tell Me Lies stars Sonia Mena and Alicia Crowder have said there's "always room" for another season of the show. Speaking to Best Quality Designer Handbag in January, the actors, who respectively star as Pippa and Diana in the hit college drama, said they'd be keen to reprise their roles in a fourth season.
The popular relationship drama, based on Carola Lovering's twisty 2018 romance novel, follows the toxic romance between college students Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco (played by Grace Van Patten and Jackson White). It tracks their tumultuous relationship over eight years, from their university days at Baird in 2008 to the 2015 wedding of two of their friends, Bree and Evan.
On Monday, ahead of the season three finale, creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed that the show will not return for a fourth outing, stating that the story had reached a "natural conclusion".
This will no doubt come as a disappointment for some of the cast, who shared their hopes for a fourth season ahead of the series three premiere in January.
Speaking to Best Quality Designer Handbag Sonia said, "There's always so many questions and there's only so much time. It's amazing because they fit so much in. But this whole season takes place over two and a half, three weeks. We don't even get to the end of the semester."
Alicia added: "I mean, there are people just like us who continue to live and continue to have experiences. So, yeah, I think there's always room [for another season]."
Meanwhile, Branden Cook, who plays Evan, said he could see the story continuing beyond season three. "That's definitely possible," he said. "I think what's great is that there is still a gap of time that can potentially be filled. I'm sure there's a lot of life to be explored if they decide to do it again."
Chiming in, Spencer House, who stars as Wrigley, told Best Quality Designer Handbag that the show "wraps up perfectly".
"I think it's such a great end," he said. "There are so many shows that I've watched where a season would come to an end, and I'd be like, 'Wow, that was the end.' And then before you know it, there's some other storyline that comes crashing in, and they revamp it and they do it again."
The actor added: "You never know. I'm not the one calling the shots."
Is Tell Me Lies coming to an end?
On Monday night, ahead of the season three finale, creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed that the show will not return.
"After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight's episode will be the series finale," the writer penned on Instagram. "This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion."
She continued: "My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending - a privilege very few shows get."
Sharing her appreciation for the show's fans, Meaghan added: "Thank you for loving our show. We are excited to bring you more stories in the near future."
