Scottish actress Claire Goose is back on our screens in ITV's compelling new crime thriller, Gone, which follows the headmaster of a prestigious private school who becomes the prime suspect in his wife's disappearance.

The Edinburgh-born actress, who hails from Norfolk, is a familiar face on our screens thanks to her long-standing career. The 51-year-old, who rose to fame in the late 90s for playing Tina Seabrook in Holby City, has starred in a wide range of popular dramas, including Unforgotten, The Bay, Mount Pleasant and The Cuckoo.

Claire's TV producer husband

Claire is married to TV producer, writer and director Craig Woodrow, who is known for his work on Doctors.

The couple, who have been married since 2007, first met on a blind date. "A blind date sounds so quaint now, doesn't it? These days we'd have met on Tinder or something," she told The Mirror in 2015.

They share two teenage daughters Amelia and Evelyn.

In December last year, the couple celebrated 18 years of marriage. Marking the occasion on Instagram, Claire penned a sweet message to her other half. "18 years ago today, I was lucky enough to have my dad, by my side, to walk me down the aisle to my better half."

Referring to a black-and-white photo of the couple on their wedding day, Claire continued: "(I think the 2nd photo looks like I'm quite bossy, but luckily he had said 'yes' by this point [laughing emoji]).

"2 beautiful kids later and a very fortunate life - we've navigated the rough with the smooth. Very grateful to have you in my life," she concluded.

Claire's family life

Sharing an insight into her family life in 2015, Claire described her husband as "very thoughtful".

"He's amazing, much better than me at getting up for the kids and coping on less sleep," she said back in 2015. "It's tricky with small kids to go on romantic breaks, instead, we'll go for a really lovely meal to a nice restaurant."

Claire and Craig share two daughters

On being a mum to two daughters, the Murdoch Mysteries actress said: "It's lovely having two girls. They love baking, and dressing up and playing with make-up."

While Claire tends to keep her children out of the spotlight, she celebrated her youngest daughter Evelyn's 8th birthday back in 2020 with a touching tribute. "8 years ago today this gorgeous little bubba came into our lives," penned the mum-of-two. "Evelyn - you take our breath away every day. We are so grateful to have you in our lives."

Balancing her busy career with family life

While starring in the BBC drama, The Coroner, in which she played the title role from 2015 to 2016, Claire opened up about the challenges of filming in Devon, away from her family in London.

"I'm not going to lie, it was 15 weeks, so it was tough," the actress said (via The Sunday Post).

"You know you'll be home at the weekends but I think it was hard for the girls. They had their school routine and then at the weekends I had very focused time with them," said Claire.

"When you have very long working days and then you have to be available for the girls and Craig at the weekends it used up a lot of energy. I was pretty wiped out by the end of it," she continued, adding, "But it was a great job, so I can't complain."

All episodes of Gone are available to stream on ITVX now.
