With so much content becoming available on streaming platforms daily, what is popular is continually in an ebb and flow. However, two weeks after its release, The Bluff continues to dominate the charts on Amazon Prime.

Following its release two weeks ago, the pirate thriller shot to the top of Prime's charts in dozens of countries, and it still retains that position in the United States. The film, which stars Priyanka Chopra and Karl Urban, also remains in the top position in countries like Canada, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Hungary and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, it continues to be in the top five for countries like the United Kingdom, Spain, Argentina, Guatemala, Panama and Singapore.

The film's synopsis reads: "When her tranquil life on a remote island is shattered by the return of her vengeful former captain, a skilled ex-pirate must confront her bloody past and unleash her deadly talents to save her family from a ruthless siege."

HELLO!'s TV and Film Writer Abby Allen noted: "If you're a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean and love a survival thriller led by a strong female protagonist, The Bluff is one for you."

Who stars in The Bluff?

The Bluff has an A-list cast, which might be helping with its draw. The film is led by Priyanka Chopra (Citadel), who plays Ercell Bodden, previously known as Bloody Mary, a former pirate and slave. Her bloodthirsty former captain, Francisco Connor, is played by Karl Urban (The Boys).

The cast is rounded out by Greg Hatton (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire), Pacharo Mzembe (Sleeping Dogs), Gideon Mzembe (Thor: Ragnarok), Zack Morris (EastEnders) and Gary Beadle (Silent Witness).

The Bluff's reception

Despite The Bluff dominating the charts since its release, the film has had a mixed reception from both fans and critics. One viewer who enjoyed the movie said: "I really enjoyed The Bluff. It's a solid action movie that is both fun and entertaining. Priyanka Chopra Jonas is excellent; she is charismatic and perfect for this role. The action scenes are very well-made and choreographed, featuring a good amount of gore that fans will appreciate. It delivers exactly what it promises. Highly recommended!"

A second enthused: "Well shiver me timbers, what a pleasant surprise this big budget pirate movie was – it's really decent and action packed from start to finish!" while a third added: "I haven't seen a decent pirate film in a very, very long time. It's action packed, it's bloody, and it's visually stunning. It's almost like John Wick meets Pirates!!! The story is excellent and the characters are very well fleshed out."

However, another commented: "Dialogue was horrendous, characters felt disposable, and the second-rate CGI really dulled whatever potential there might have been. Even the action scenes which I was genuinely excited about, quickly became a drag, falling into a tiring loop of repetition, mainly because of unimaginative choreography and of course over reliance on second rate CGI projection!"

A fifth noted: "It's just another generic action movie in costume. I love action movies, but since John Wick brought a new energy to the genre almost everything that has followed minus a few gems (Extraction) has almost felt like a rip off. Like I said, I was expecting a pirate themed movie, but it never quite feels like one."

Reception to the film has been mixed from fans and critics

Writing in Decider, John Serba opined: "The Bluff is totally passable. No need to throw it in the brig. Or make it walk the plank. Or schedule it a trip to Davy Jones' Locker."
