The series follows the titular extramarital affair which occurs when school teacher and aspiring novelist Noah meets a young waitress, Alison, while on a summer holiday with his family.
This highly addictive, stylish series not only boasts a stacked cast, led by Ruth Wilson and Dominic West, but it's co-created by Sarah Treem, who has writing and executive producer credits on the hit thriller, House of Cards. It's safe to say that viewers are in for a compelling watch.

What is The Affair about?
Told from both Noah's and Alison's perspectives, the story follows the "emotional and psychological effects" of an affair.

The synopsis continues: "Alison's husband Cole (Dawson's Creek's Joshua Jackson), struggles to keep it all together, both with his wife and the financially-strained ranch that has been in his family for generations.
"Their emotionally-charged marriage becomes even more complicated when Alison begins an affair with Noah, a New York City public school teacher and aspiring novelist who is spending the summer at his in-laws' estate out on the island. Maura Tierney (Liar Liar) plays Helen, Noah's college sweetheart, best friend, mother of his children, lover and wife of 17 years."

The series, which boasts an 85 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been hailed as "brilliant" and "the best TV show ever" by viewers.
One person wrote in an online review: "This is drama at its best. Superb writing and cast of actors, so much talent in this one show. The script is beautifully written, all full of nuances and subtle details that make you pay attention, no words are wasted, there are no filling scenes."
