Slow Horses' Christopher Chung spilt the beans on the show's upcoming sixth season and confirmed a major spoiler about his character Roddy Ho.
The 37-year-old Australian actor walked the red carpet at the Royal Television Society awards on Tuesday, 25 March, at London's JW Marriott Grosvenor House.
The Apple TV+ hit series, starring Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden, was nominated in three categories at the star-studded event: Drama Series, Supporting Actor (Male) for Christopher and Supporting Actor (Female) for Saskia Reeves.
While Christopher lost out on a trophy to Adolescence star Owen Cooper, he did stop to chat with HELLO! about the next instalment of the spy thriller series and what might be in store for the stellar cast.
The actor told us: "I'm in it. I didn't die, so that's a spoiler! It should be coming out at the end half of the year. Ho becomes a little bit more spiritual. He's a little bit more affected by what he's been through with Tara in season five, so you might see him be a little bit more holistic in the next one."
He continued hinting at the evolution his character is about to experience: "I think Roddy changes every season, so he's still trying to find himself and become the best version of Ho that he can be."
Joining Christopher on the red carpet, comedian and screenwriter Will Smith, who worked as the showrunner on seasons one through five, added his two cents on what audiences could expect from the new series, written by Gaby Chiappe.
He exclusively hinted: "This is my last season, but I know the books, so I kind of know what's going to happen. There are some characters from the past that are going to come back, so I can give that clue!"
Behind the scenes secrets
Adapted from Mick Herron's Slough House series of spy novels, the thriller stars Gary as Jackson Lamb and Jack as River Cartwright, a mentor-mentee dynamic that viewers fell in love with from the very first episode.
Offering a look behind-the-scenes of the London-based set, Christopher told us what it was like working alongside the Harry Potter legend and new dad, Jack. He said: "It's phenomenal. Every day that I get to work with one of the greats is a learning day.
"I wouldn't have been nominated if I wasn't getting to work with such incredible talent, having to step up my game every single day, so every nomination is a testament to what they've allowed me to do."
The star added, with a knowing smile: "It's always fun off-set. I've been very lucky and blessed with all the cast that I've worked with, not just on Slow Horses, that everyone is just up for making it a good time."
Will echoed Christopher and gushed over Gary, who made a name for himself as Sid Vicious in 1986's Sid and Nancy and 1992's Dracula. The writer revealed: "It's an absolute joy and an absolute privilege, because he is a total genius as an actor.
"He's also a brilliant writer and director, so he brings a full package, and he really understands the show from all the different angles. He's just a great resource to have outside of the brilliant work that he does playing Lamb."
As a final thought, The Thick of It writer told us who he would love to see appear as a guest star in the series: "Billy Crudup has said he'd love to be in it and I love Billy Crudup, so he would be amazing!"
