The duo starred in the gritty detective series for six seasons, from 2002 to 2008, after which ITV axed the show as a cost-cutting measure, much to the disappointment of fans. The series follows oddball psychologist Dr Tony Hill (Green), who teams up with DCI Carol Jordan (Norris), to solve a chain of grisly murders in the fictional town of Bradfield.

On working with Robson, Hermione said: "Robson Green was one of the nicest leading men I've ever worked with. Really lovely man."

When asked if she would team up with Robson if Wire in the Blood were ever to return, the 59-year-old actress said: "Yes, I'm very fond of Robson. It feels like it's been a long time since I did that show."

She added: "I have immense respect for him as an actor, as a person. I think he's great."

Hermione's experience on Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island

Hermione appeared on the latest season of the BBC's reality show, Pilgrimage, which sees a group of celebrities embark on the spiritual journey of a lifetime.

On why she decided to sign up for the 12-day journey across the wild landscapes of North East England, Hermione said she had reached a period of "transition" in her life after her children left home and school.

"It was a perfect moment for me," she said. "My mother had died around 18 months before doing it, and my children were just leaving home and school - one was going travelling and one was going off to France. It's a time of transition and it really appealed to me to go on a pilgrimage."

Hermione, who lives in Dorset, joins the likes of actor Patsy Kensit, TV personality Tasha Ghouri and dancer Ashley Banjo on the trip, which sees the group travel 390km to explore the lives of early Celtic Christian saints.

"I was really grateful to ask quite deep questions of myself, having been raised culturally as a Christian," said Hermione. "I'm not religious and don't subscribe to any religious dogma but I do have a very strong faith. I'm grateful to have explored that."

All three episodes of Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
