Metalwork maestro Dominic Chinea is a fan-favourite on the BBC's heartwarming heirloom-fixing show, The Repair Shop. The expert has made regular appearances on the programme since his debut in 2017 and often impresses viewers with his incredible restoration skills.
But how much do you know about his life off-camera? Find out all about Dom's life in Cornwall with his wife Maria below…
Who is Dominic Chinea?
Dominic is a production designer and metalwork expert who works across various mediums, including prop making, sign writing and car restoration.
Before landing a role on The Repair Shop, Dom studied Graphic Design at South East Sussex College. He now owns Ranalah Ltd and is reviving the brand in the hopes of spreading "the word as to how to use the wheeling machine".
Dominic's family life
Dominic is married to Maria Domican, who works as a producer.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, share an eight-year-old Spanish Water Dog named Wendy, who often appears on Dom's Instagram page.
Marking his beloved pooch's eighth birthday, Dom shared a carousel of adorable videos, including one showing Wendy as a puppy. In the caption, he penned: "Happy birthday to Wendy!! She is 8 years old today!!"
Last year, Dom and Maria moved to an old farmhouse in west Cornwall, having lived in a former post office in rural Kent.
Sharing the reason behind their move, Dom told The Telegraph: "It's hard to explain, because Kent was amazing in many ways. I lived in London for 10 years before moving out to Kent, and at first it was great to be in the countryside."
Dominic and Maria's documentary series
Dom and Maria documented their move in a UKTV documentary, Dom Chinea's Cornish Workshop, which aired in March this year.
The five-part series follows Dom as he faces the DIY challenges that come with renovating a home while also using his engineering skills to help the local community.
The synopsis reads: "From buying and fixing an ancient four-wheel drive to enable year-round access to his new workshop, to helping his local church with their bells, to creating a bespoke ice cream vehicle for his neighbour, every episode packs big and little stories alongside the narrative of creating his new workshop from an ancient barn.
"Throughout the series, Dom enlists the aid of Sam Lovegrove (Shed and Buried) for general engineering assistance, plus a cast of charismatic, local tradespeople who collectively help Dom to achieve his ambitious plans."
