The BBC has unveiled Reputation, a new six-part legal drama starring Naomie Harris and Christina Hendricks, with filming now underway for the series set to air on BBC One.
Written by Anya Reiss and produced by The Forge, the courtroom drama follows formidable lawyer Lena, played by Naomie, as she takes on the celebrity case of the decade, representing global pop star Davina Knight, portrayed Christina.
Davina releases a provocative song accusing her former husband, played by Kyle Soller, of abusive behaviour and he retaliates.
The series follows as the couple's breakdown as it spirals into a public libel battle. As PR teams mobilise and social media fuels public outrage, the case becomes a toxic spectacle where truth is distorted for clicks and reputations are fought over in real time.
While Lena attempts to stay in control professionally, the pressure of the case begins to threaten her personal life too.
Naomie , 49, starred as Miss Moneypenny alongside Daniel Craig’s James Bond in Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die and is also known for her roles in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and 28 Days Later.
The British actress said of the new series: "I was hooked from page one of Reputation. It's so rare to read scripts with the wit and flair of Anya’s writing and I knew straight away that I wanted to play Lena."
Christine, 51, is best known for playing office manager Joan Holloway Harris in the HBO series Mad Men. She has also starred in dark comedy Good Girls and Sky Atlantic crime show Tin Star.
"Davina's a fantastic, fierce character," the American str said of her new role. "I'm so looking forward to working with Naomie and I'm delighted to be working again with the Forge." The ensemble cast also includes Alex Jennings, David Gyasi, Emily Atack, Marli Siu and Tilly Keeper among others.
