On Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales delighted royal fans in London as they headed to various landmarks in the capital. The pair had a busy day of engagements, which began at Southwark, before they later tried their hand at brewing at the Bermondsey Beer Mile, before travelling via speedboat to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Looking the picture of elegance, Kate, 44, donned a sleek, heritage print blazer by Catherine Walker, which she teamed with a baby blue shirt, pressed trousers and cowboy boots by Jimmy Choo. The mother of three wore her famous mane lightly curled and expertly blow-dried loose at the start of the day.
Kate's bold ponytail
However, as time progressed and the royal couple arrived at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Kate decided to tie her hair back in a sleek ponytail, which peeped expertly through the back of her cap.
As she took part in a boat ride, having her long hair around her face may have felt constricting, so it's easy to see why the royal decided to brush it away from her face. After the royal switched up her hair look, we couldn't help but notice how radiant her face looked; her bone structure was on full display, and she looked stunning.
The relatable royal ponytail
"Kate's ponytail is a brilliant example of how a simple hairstyle can look incredibly polished," Paul Windle, professional hairstylist and owner of Covent Garden salon, Windle London, tells Best Quality Designer Handbag . "Pulling the hair back like this highlights the bone structure and allows her natural hair health and shine to take centre stage. It feels fresh, sporty and elegant all in one," he notes.
The royal's ponytail is flattering. "What makes this look work so well is the balance. The ponytail sits at a flattering mid-height, which lifts the face and keeps the style youthful and modern without looking overly styled," adds Paul. "Kate always manages to make effortless hair look incredibly chic."
Practically perfect
Princess Kate has never adhered to fleeting trends when it comes to her hair, always keeping her mane chic yet practical. "Wearing a ponytail through the back of a cap is a very practical styling choice, but it can still look refined if the hair is smooth and healthy," Paul muses. "Kate's hair has that glossy, well-conditioned finish, which keeps the style looking elevated rather than purely casual."
