Jamie Redknapp was the spitting image of his former football manager father, Harry Redknapp, in a recent birthday tribute he shared to his social media platform, showing the two ex-players at a much younger age.
The 52-year-old former Liverpool captain wished his dad a happy 79th birthday with a throwback black-and-white picture of the father and son when Jamie was a young man.
In the vintage-style photograph, Jamie and Harry sat on a set of stairs together and shook hands as the camera clicked, capturing the sweet family moment.
It appeared to have been taken when Jamie was just 16 years old, during his player signing for AFC Bournemouth, of which his dad was the manager in 1989.
Harry wore an old-school panelled shell jacket that bore the football club's crest, zipped up over a dark-coloured round-neck jumper and collared shirt. His son, Jamie, wore a similarly styled jacket with a slightly different crest on the breast over the top of a matching jumper and shirt combo.
The teenager had his hair styled in the signature late 80s and 90s curtain bangs reminiscent of many a boyband member from that era, and beamed as he gripped his dad's hand.
Jamie added a caption along with the photo that read: "Happy birthday to my best friend and Dad. Love you mate."
Famous friends and fans rushed to the comment section to share their well-wishes with Harry, who was crowned the King of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2018.
Irish football coach Robbie Keane commented with a simple red heart emoji, while family friend Jonathan Andrew said: "Happy birthday @harryredknapp hope you have a great one!"
"Happy Happy Birthday HARRY REDKNAPP. Have a truly wonderful day xxx," a follower left underneath the birthday tribute.
The ex-husband of Eternal band member, Louise Redknapp, also shared an adorable throwback picture to his Instagram Story to mark his dad's big day. He posted a grainy, yellowed picture of a much younger Harry, who had his arms wrapped around Jamie as a young boy.
To go with the snap, Jamie penned a note that said: "Happy birthday, H" above the picture that appeared to have been taken in a garden.
A birthday to remember, this time
The sporting star's tribute to his dad turning another year older followed admissions from Jamie that he pushed his limits at his own 50th birthday party and it drove him to abstain from drinking alcohol for 18 months.
Remembering the "terrible" hangover that came after his party over two years ago, the father-of-three revealed he hadn't "had a drink now in 18 months" and was keen to set a better example for his children.
Telling his story on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, he said: "Purely, I just felt, never had a bad relationship with alcohol, I've always suffered terrible hangovers, so that tells you alcohol doesn't agree with me, but I had my 50th."
Jamie shares two sons, Charley, 21, and Beau, 17, with his ex-wife Louise and another son, Raphael, three, with wife Frida Andersson. Speaking about their children, Louise told Best Quality Designer Handbag : "They're close. Even though they fight and they argue, they're brothers. When they're home the house feels so full of life and energy."
