Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha Rosnah of Brunei are well and truly in a baby bubble. The son of Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, took to Instagram on 21 April to share three new photos from inside the royal palace featuring their daughter, Princess Zahra, who was born on 8 February 2026.
Adoring new mum Princess Anisha was seen holding her tiny daughter, who looked adorable in a frilly baby romper, socks, and shoes, and a lace headband adorned her fluffy brunette hair.
Members of Prince Mateen's family gathered around the royal baby, with the Sultan sharing a sweet interaction with her granddaughter, who remained in the arms of her mother.
In a third shot, Prince Mateen was seen holding the tot, kissing her head sweetly as she slept.
A Brunei royal baby is born
The royal couple welcomed their baby two months ago, announcing the baby's gender via the national public broadcaster, RTB News.
The statement read: "In compliance with the orders of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces that His Royal Highness Princess Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, wife of His Royal Highness Prince Muda 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, with the permission of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala, has safely given birth to a daughter on Sunday, 20th, Syaaban, 1447 corresponding to 8th, February, 2026, at 8.50 am."
The public address also revealed how the birth was celebrated: "Following this release, 17 cannon shots were fired in the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman."
Revealing their baby's name
Three days later, proud father Prince Mateen shared his daughter's name on Instagram, writing: "Zahra Mariam Bolkiah. Anisha & I are so grateful to the incredible team at JPMC for their exceptional care and support, and so thankful to everyone for the kind wishes."
The news of Zahra's birth came after Brunei's Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha Rosnah announced they were expecting their first baby in October 2025.
The pair made the news public by sharing a black-and-white photograph of themselves holding hands on a balcony. Since then, they have shared glimpses of their life with a newborn, including photos from inside their London home adorned with baby toys and a cute play mat.
