Jenna Bush Hager has made a super relatable parental admission, acknowledging that her children have banned her from cheering at their sports events because she can get too "loud".
The Today Show host made the revelations on Friday, April 24, when she and co-host Sheinelle Jones discussed a recent video of Running Point stars Kate Hudson and Brenda Song mic'd up at a Los Angeles Lakers game. Brenda was cheering on the players before she apologized to Kate for her enthusiasm; Kate told her never to apologize.
"Are you Brenda? Are you the loud one?" Sheinelle then asked Jenna, who admitted she was "a Brenda," and then revealed that she had been "kicked out" of her daughter Mila’s volleyball matches.
"I got put into a free zone," explained Jenna. "I was watching her [play] volleyball. I love cheering. I mean, I grew up — my dad [George W. Bush] worked in baseball – so we went to 70 games a year, and I would cheer. I love to cheer. I learned how to take core. I knew how to do everything. I'm a sports kid. But I also really love heckling, but I didn’t heckle at Mila’s volleyball game."
She then continued: "The score was six to seven, and I go, 'Six seven!' And Mila looked at me like this." Jenna then recreated her daughter’s reaction, before adding that she has since been "frozen out".
Jenna is mom to three children with her husband, Henry Chase Hager: daughters Mila (born 2013) and Poppy (born 2015), and son Hal (born 2019).
She went on to share that she had only attended one volleyball game this year, and that her son Hal had already warned her not to cheer at his flag football games, telling her, "You’re too loud, Mom."
But Jenna has high hopes for the coming school year, as she told Sheinelle: "I think I’m going to be unfrozen for next year. I'm just not going to try to be the center of attention."
Jenna has previously admitted that, as a young girl, her biggest dream was to become a mom, but that her girls "have these other dreams."
"Mila's like. 'I'm going to write a story, I'm going to be an author. I'm going to be a lawyer,' all these things. Poppy's like, 'I'm going to be an actor,'" Jenna said.
But according to Jenna, the most important thing for her as a mom is "making sure that each child has the love that I know I feel for them."
With all of her cheering, we're sure they feel it!
