The weeks during and after fashion month always leave me with plenty of shopping inspiration and the sudden urge to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe. It’s one of the (two if we count the September shows too) best times of year to experiment with fresh styles seen on the runway, while also investing in those classic staples designers have proved aren’t going anywhere for the rest of the season.

Granted, it can feel a little confusing taking inspiration straight from the catwalk when designers are always presenting collections for the season ahead. In February and March, we see autumn/winter shows, while September and October bring spring/summer debuts. But that doesn’t mean we can’t take cues from the textures, silhouettes and styling tricks on display to stay one step ahead.

Of course, recreating every runway moment for a fraction of the price isn’t exactly realistic (sadly, those deliciously sculpted hems Jonathan Anderson debuted for Dior aren’t likely to appear on the high street anytime soon). But the beauty of fashion month is spotting the wearable ideas behind the drama - the shapes, fabrics and details that will inevitably filter down into everyday wardrobes.

There were a few trends in particular that immediately caught my eye on the runways, and ones that, in my personal fashion-expert opinion, are set to become big in the months ahead.

Keep scrolling to skip the low-down and get shopping immediately.

Oversized earrings

Statement accessories have never really left the fashion week roster in one way or another, but this season, designers have taken 'oversized' to new levels - particularly on the earrings front. The best thing about earrings with such impact is that no other jewellery is necessary and a simple, slick hairstyle is the perfect combination.

Stellar Sequins

A perfect example of a design seen on the autumn/winter runways that’s easily replicated for spring/summer. After all, what’s a sun-kissed season without a few splendid sequins to reflect those glorious rays? Whether you prefer Edeline Lee’s classic pencil skirt silhouette, Simone Rocha’s romantic textures, Connor Ives’ playful take on sparkle or Julien Macdonald’s full-blown maximalist combinations, this shimmering trend is guaranteed to put a spring (pun intended) in your step.

Suitcase-sized handbags

Gone are the days of bags so tiny they couldn’t even fit a lip gloss in them - and we’re so here for it. The supersized styles seen on the latest catwalks could carry everything you’d need for a night out and, honestly, probably the week ahead too. No more choosing between style and practicality: these roomy beauties have space for it all, from your make-up bag to that emergency pair of flats (because those pretty heels never last all night).

Interesting Minimalism

Whilst the concept of minimalism in this day and age isn’t exactly groundbreaking, the latest season has given it a fresh overhaul. Texture, playful silhouettes and unexpected detailing brought a sense of intrigue to otherwise pared-back looks. Brands including Joseph and Dior showcased how clean lines can still feel new, presenting sculptural tailoring and subtle design twists that elevated minimalist dressing for the season ahead.

    Olive Satin Bomber Jacket

This is the chicest bomber jacket I've seen all season. Sitting somewhere between a jacket and a shirt, this piece is excellent for wearing from day to night. I love the balloon sleeve and structured collar combo. Tres chic.

    Ex-Boyfriend® Charles Long

    Hand Over

Whenever the Instagram girlies are wearing sparkles right now, the likelihood is that their incredible 'fit is from Hand Over. Aside from their micro minis and cult-adored bedazzled boxers, I also love these trousers for everyday wear with a white tee.

    Nola Bubble Hem Skirt

    Aligne

Don't be alarmed by the playfulness of minimalism on the runways this season. Even the tiniest detail can make the simplest of pieces feel fresh and elevated. Take this skirt for example. Aligne have given a classic spring/summer wardrobe staple a refresh by adding an adorable bubble hem. Fun yet still totally wearable and effortlessly chic.
