I have a bone to pick with Dakota Johnson. Not only is she dating Role Model, which, frankly, feels like a personal betrayal given our very real, completely mutual imaginary relationship - but she’s also assembled the spring wardrobe of dreams. At this point, I’d like to request either the boyfriend or the closet. Ideally both.

Stinging jealousy aside, the actress has nailed it in the clothing department. Over the week, Dakota hit the streets of Rome alongside friend and fellow Hollywood heavyweight Jessie Buckley, sporting a paired-back look that quickly captured our attention.

The 36-year-old slipped Hai’s serene Florence Dress, featuring the palest shade of ice blue, a fluid silk satin construction and a sleeveless, scoop neck silhouette. Dakota paired the piece with some black Prada oval-frame sunglasses and Artemis’s Moon Goddess Pendant for a bohemian touch. A black knit was coolly slung over her shoulders as she mapped the city streets.

The star, who is currently shooting Three Incestuous Sisters alongside Jessie, Buckley, Saoirse Ronan and Josh O’Connor in Italy, effortlessly proved the power of the throw-on dress with her latest look - a must-know power ensemble for spring/summer 2026.

Satin, scooped neck throw-on dresses
Satin, scooped neck throw-ons are a wardrobe staple for summer

Throw-on dresses are the key to mastering low-effort, high-impact city girl style. Ideal for humid London summers when one must brave the Central Line during the daily commute, chuck-on designs are a staple wardrobe hero. Not only are they great for layering, as Dakota so seamlessly proved, but they caress the figure in the most flattering manner, sensually highlighting the curves to perfection.

Various brands including Victoria Beckham, Gabriela Hearst and Jacquemus think so too, cementing the silhouette as a staple in their off-the-runway collections throughout the years. Embracing our divine femininity has never looked so haute.
