Harry Styles, 32, commences his next tour in May, and fans can't wait, but behind the scenes, the hitmaker has been hit with a troublesome issue. The Cheshire-born singer has purchased two Hampstead Heath properties to convert them into one megamansion, but the project has been plagued by a big issue - toxic weeds.
It has been reported by the MailOnline that one of his houses, a £6.25 million abode, has 25 square metres of potentially dangerous weeds in the garden. The species discovered are Buddleia, Horsetail, Montbretia and Rhododendron ponticum, and there are concerns over future structural damage to the house because of the latter two being invasive.
Rhododendron ponticum also has a negative impact on nearby plants. Forest Research states that "invasion is accompanied by severe impoverishment of the native flora and fauna".
If not treated, this weed takeover could also affect Harry's ability to sell the property, so it needs to be addressed. The team working on the renovation are going to be removing the plants.
Plants like this, which are of an invasive nature, are listed in Part II of schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It states: "If any person plants or otherwise causes to grow in the wild any plant which is included in Part II of schedule 9, he shall be guilty of an offence."
Harry's megamansion plans
The former One Direction star has plans for an impressive property once complete, which will include four bedrooms and an array of plush features like a gym, a cinema, and even staff quarters. The project is set to be finalised in 2027.
Celebrity hub in Hampstead Heath
While the whole of London is a celebrity magnet, it seems Hampstead Heath is remarkably popular for stars, with many big names acquiring property in the luxurious area. Rita Ora, Helena Bonham Carter, Jonathan Ross, Dua Lipa and Ricky Gervais all have houses in this district. What's the pull? Leafy parks, stunning Georgian town houses and an exclusive crowd to call your neighbours.
According to Rightmove, house prices in Hampstead have an overall average of £1,432,070 over the last year. While this may seem impressive, it is interesting to note that "historical sold prices in Hampstead over the last year were 4 per cent down on the previous year and 13 per cent down on the 2022 peak of £1,640,465".
