The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been residing in Montecito since 2020, and they have created a dream life together with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. However, their idyllic peace could be affected at the moment with upheaval in the local area.

It has been reported that there is an array of road closures and construction sites nearby, and drivers in the local area have been urged to exercise "caution" when navigating around the sites. Some of the disruption is taking place less than a 10-minute drive from Prince Harry and Meghan's megamansion.

Edhat, a local Santa Barbara news publication, warns residents to expect lane closures and detours on the popular Highway 101 for the following week as "major" work takes place. The lane from Los Patos Way to San Ysidro Road, which acts as a primary route into their exclusive neighbourhood, and the San Ysidro Road off-ramp, will be closed, the website states.

Some of the closures are overnight for the least amount of disruption, but others will be taking place in the daytime and could considerably impact the local area. "Drivers are urged to use caution," the article reads, and it also explains that there is a reduced speed limit in place in certain areas. Disruption is expected to continue in some form until 2027 when works are completed

The couple took out a mortgage to be able to afford their dream home in the US, and according to TMZ, they spent $14.65 million on the property; however, a Zillow estimate shows that their mansion has now doubled in value and is worth a dazzling $29 million.

The estate has an array of incredible features, including an over-water spa room, a wine cellar, an outdoor pool and a tennis court. The garden is an extra-special place for the family where they like to spend time gardening, playing and relaxing.

We occasionally get glimpses into the residence via Meghan's Instagram feed, and one of the beautiful spaces showcased was the couple's bedroom terrace, which overlooks their stunning grounds, including two picturesque palm trees that have stolen the royals' hearts.

The Duchess mentioned them in her interview with The Cut in 2022. "One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees," she said. "See how they're connected at the bottom? He goes, 'My love, it's us.'  And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, 'Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.'"
