Kaley Cuoco is making no apologies for her unconventional sleeping arrangement with her fiancé, Tom Pelphrey, but she is defending it.
The Big Bang Theory alum, who confirmed her engagement to the Ozark actor in August 2024, revealed that she and Tom have decided to stop sharing a bed, a decision she called a "game changer."
Kaley explained on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast on Monday that she and the actor had a differing opinion about sharing their bedroom with their rescue dogs.
The actress admitted that Tom eventually spoke out against it because he couldn't sleep with the dogs barking during the night.
"He was like, 'I can't do this anymore.' And I'm like, 'I understand,'" she explained. "So, he started sleeping in the guest room. Which, by the way, game changer."
Kaley also admitted that their new sleeping arrangement works well for them because of their "different sleeping schedules," explaining that Tom is a "night owl," who "goes to bed very late," while she is not.
© Getty Images"He writes at night. He reads, it's his quiet time," she said. "So, he's up late and wakes up late on a non-working day. We established this from day one. I go to bed early, and I wake up early. We're totally on different sleeping schedules."
She recalled: "He's like, 'I can't sleep.' He wakes up. He can't go back to sleep. So, he's like, 'How do you feel if I sleep in that other room?' We do couples therapy, and we love it."
Despite being all for their new sleeping arrangements now, Kaley confessed that at first, she was worried about what people would think.
© Getty Images"At first, I'm like, 'What will people think?' And he's like, 'I never see you at night.' I don't see him. It's not our sexy time. We don't cuddle. We don't see each other at night," she explained.
"He goes, 'Why do you care?' And I sat there, and I went, 'God, I don't care.' And he goes, 'Let's try it.'"
© InstagramKaley and Tom are now "such happier people" because of their separate beds, with her adding that "nothing happens but sleep" in the guest room.
She added: "I'm up with [their daughter] Matilda at 7 a.m. She comes into bed with me. I can turn things on. Best decision we ever made."
