Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is currently residing at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk while he awaits the completion of the renovations on Marsh Farm. However, he was previously offered a home on the Windsor Replica Luxury Handbag Park estate before being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 19 February 2026.
As highlighted in journalist Tom Bower's new book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, Andrew refused the offer of Frogmore Cottage, made by King Charles in an effort to get him out of Royal Lodge, where he had been living, and at an awkward time.

Bower wrote: "In the driving rain, Harry arrived at the abbey with Andrew. The disgraced Prince was, at the time, still refusing the King’s order to move to Frogmore from Royal Lodge, the 30-bedroom mansion he occupied with his ex-wife, Sarah [Ferguson]."
© PA ImagesThe awkward encounter Bower describes came when Harry and the former Duke of York attended Charles' coronation in 2023, both arriving at Westminster Abbey for the historic occasion. They came face-to-face after Andrew turned his nose up at the cottage that was Harry's home with his wife, Meghan Markle, from April 2019 until their relocation to the United States in early 2020.
The royal author added: "Relations between the uncle and his nephew were not good. In some accounts, Andrew had scathingly dismissed Meghan as an 'opportunist'."
Why did Charles offer Andrew Frogmore Cottage?
© Getty ImagesAndrew was offered Frogmore Cottage as an alternative to Royal Lodge, as the former prince was a non-working royal living in a grand 30-room property. However, the disgraced royal was not happy to move into Frogmore Cottage as it was far smaller than the living quarters he had grown accustomed to.
Harry and Meghan's former home, which the couple renovated, features five bedrooms (four plus a nursery). They also added a yoga studio, two orangeries, along with structural upgrades totalling £2.4 million.
Andrew changes his tune
In 2025, prior to being stripped of his royal titles and honours by King Charles amid renewed links to Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew did a U-turn on Frogmore Cottage. The cottage reportedly became more appealing to Andrew as it would mean he wouldn't have to vacate Windsor. Matters were taken out of the royal's hands when he was effectively forced to move to Sandringham in February.
