Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger, 82, is known for his unique voice and epic stage presence. Off stage, he's a busy family man with eight children. He's been married twice before and is now engaged to Melanie Hamrick.

Despite being from Kent, Mick has lived the world over – spending lots of time in America in the past. Now, the rocker splits his time between his 18th-century French chateau, named Château La Fourchette in France's Loire Valley and a property on the riverside in Chelsea.

1982, Sir Mick bought the Château de Fourchette, along with the 50 acres of land surrounding it, with his then-wife Jerry Hall for £2.2 million, which would equal £7,913,585.64 today, according to the Bank of England's inflation calculator. and it features a Japanese-style garden, swimming pools, and a tennis court. While it used to be used for holidays, Mick and his fiancée Melanie now spend most of their time there, a recent Tatler interview revealed.

In the same piece, it was mentioned that Mick's private chef drives a 400-mile journey from their London property to France, taking with her her cooking knives to be expertly sharpened.

According to Radio France Internationale, he has called the Château La Fourchette and the surrounding countryside his "haven of peace in the valley of kings".

It seems only fitting that the residence also has its own professional recording studio, and It has been widely reported that he and the Rolling Stones recorded their 2005 album, A Bigger Bang, there.

It is no wonder that Mick fell in love with France, as it is where he holidayed as a young child. As reported in Architectural Digest, he spent many of his childhood vacations at the Île d'Or campsite, which is just a 10-minute drive away from his now iconic home.

The singer also has a special property on the Caribbean island of Mustique, a six-bed beachhouse called Stargroves villa, complete with a separate children's cottage.

Mick's former residences were in Marylebone and Richmond, so he really knows his way around the capital's most affluent neighbourhoods.

The couple were already spending the majority of their time in France, but an incident in London was likely to make them even more sure of their decision. Earlier this year, Melanie opened up about a situation at Annabel's Mayfair in London where she was attacked.

She explained online: "This is incredibly hard to share, but I was physically attacked at Annabel's Mayfair tonight. I'm so thankful to my friends for protecting me. Two people grabbed me from behind, and thank god for good people who stepped in to help me. I'm shaken, sad and heartbroken that people can treat each other this way."
