The Prince and Princess of Wales moved to Forest Lodge in Windsor at the end of 2025, and the eight-bedroom property is the most wonderful home for their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. It is set within Windsor Great Park, and the family are lucky enough to have a range of activities on their doorstep as the park hosts everything from fun runs  to music festivals. Next month, a special water safety day is happening, an initiative designed to teach people the importance of safety around water.

Three institutions have teamed up - Surrey Police, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Surrey Fire and Rescue service - to help people understand the need for safety around water. The website explains around "400 people die from drowning as a result of an accident in or around water, with thousands more suffering severe and often life-changing injuries." which is why this is crucial training.

It is a four-hour event taking place on 3 May at Virginia Water, which is the opposite side of the park to where the Wales family lives. It is free for members of the public, as raising awareness is the main aim. We know that William, Kate and their children like to spend lots of time outdoors, so this kind of education could be ideal for them.

"The Princess has long been an advocate of the huge impact the outdoors can have on our wellbeing and the life skills it nurtures, such as confidence and resilience," said Kensington Palace in 2022, when Princess Kate become a patron of 33-year-old Captain Preet Chandi's latest expedition across Antarctica.

Back in 2019, Kate enlisted the help of her children when she helped design a garden for the Chelsea Flower Show. At the time she explained to the press: "All the sticks are from Anmer and the children collected the pine cones."

What is Prince William and Princess Kate’s family home like?

The Grade-II listed Georgian property used to be called Holly Grove, and the exterior features red bricks and arched windows. The residence underwent renovations ahead of the family moving in, and while, due to privacy reasons, we won’t get to see inside, we can deduce that it is likely to be elegantly decorated, as peeks inside of their other properties show.

The royal couple appear to be determined to stick to their decision of having no live-in staff at this property, striving to keep the eight-bed home more of a ‘normal’ family home.
