James Middleton never fails to delight fans when he shares updates from his £1.45 million country home in Berkshire, and his latest post was no exception.

Taking to the Instagram account of his dog food and lifestyle company, Ella & James - named in honour of his late pup Ella, whom he credits with "saving his life" - the 38-year-old entrepreneur posted an adorable photo featuring his adorable pooch Isla.

"Happy National Golden Retriever Day [yellow love heart emoji] today I'm celebrating this incredible breed, and their roles not only as wonderful family pets, but as service and therapy dogs too [blue love heart emoji]," James captioned the post.

Adding: "Did you know? Golden Retrievers originated in Scotland, which is, of course, the namesake of Isla here." In the photograph, the beautiful pup is sitting on a stylish sand-hued hessian rug.

James' special connection to dogs

As previously mentioned, James has a very special connection to dogs, crediting his late dog Ella with "saving his life" while he was overcoming depression.

Since then not only has he written a book about her, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, but he has ensured that he supports those around him, if he can.

Last week, it was revealed that James helped Monty Don grieve the loss of his dog Nigel.

Speaking with The Sunday Times, the TV star recalled: "I bought my puppy Ned from James Middleton [in 2022]. My son sent me a picture of the spitting image of one of my dogs. It turned out to be James Middleton's. James read my book [2016's Nigel: My Family and Other Dogs] about my dog Nigel, and emailed me saying, 'I was very moved by your story about Nigel. My dog is having pups. If you want to replace Nigel, I've got a nice dog that looks like him.'

"This was too much of a coincidence to resist," Monty, 70, continued. "Last year, I did a 'dog garden' for the Chelsea Flower Show. James came with his dogs, Ned's sister [Isla] and mother [Mabel]. They had their first reunion."

Back in May, James, 38, posted photos from the aforementioned reunion, and to say it was adorable would be an understatement. "Such a beautiful moment. Mabel & Isla reunited with Ned in the most beautiful of settings," he wrote in the caption. "Huge congratulations to @themontydon and @plantsman_jamie for creating the enchanting Dog Garden, and to @the_rhs for bringing the magic once again that is the Chelsea Flower Show."

Royal pups

James' royal sister, the Princess of Wales and her husband, Prince William, were grateful recipients of one of Ella's puppies, their family dog Orla. Keeping it in the family, Orla was the niece of their late dog Lupo.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that, after Orla gave birth to a litter of puppies, the future King and Queen have kept one of the furry bundles for themselves.

During a visit to textile manufacturers in West Wales, Kate, 44, was seen gushing over English cocker spaniel Barney as she visited Hiut Denim, a family-owned company in Cardigan, for her second engagement of the day.

The Princess's bond with Barney couldn't go unnoticed/ Crouching down to stroke the pup, she said: "You are lovely!" And speaking to staff, she added: "We have the same breed of dog."

Kate was asked, "How old are yours?", to which she responded: "So we've got a little puppy, he's only eight months, and Orla's five." Kate and her husband Prince William live in their "forever home", Forest Lodge in Windsor, with their children.
