Dame Prue Leith, 86, was a botanical vision when she opened London Fashion Week on Tuesday, adorned in fabric made out of holly from the King's private estate.
Strutting down the catwalk, the former Bake Off host stunned in the orange, environmentally friendly ensemble that formed part of eco-designers Vin + Omi's show. The outfit is the avant-garde designers' fourth in their collaboration with King Charles as part of an ongoing project that involves recycling waste products from the monarch's estates and fashioning them into clothing.
Prue wore a pink ruffled shirt and orange suit, paired with an extravagant floral headpiece, as part of an ensemble created from holly, nettles, butterbur, wood clippings and recycled aluminium.
It was a double milestone for Prue as the runway appearance came one day before she turned 86. After the show came to a close, the broadcaster received a surprise rendition of Happy Birthday from the audience, ahead of her turning 86 on February 18.
Among the stars in the crowd were Dame Prue’s husband, retired fashion designer John Playfair, and broadcaster Charlene White.
Her former co-stars from Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off were also in the audience – with the show’s current host Alison Hammond sitting next to former presenter Matt Lucas.
Prue is, according to reports a close friend of the fashion design duo and has previously modelled their alternative designs. In September, the British TV star rocked a recycled RAF parachute.
Meanwhile, in 2024, she was, according to the Telegraph, "sexed up" by the designers in a black latex dress and was described by Omi as "game for anything" and "a rock star."
Prue's game-changing 2026
Prue's catwalk appearance came just four weeks after it was announced she was stepping down from the Great British Bake Off, a show she was a judge alongside Paul Hollywood on for nine years.
Announcing the news on Instagram, the 85-year-old wrote: "After nine series and judging more than 400 challenges, I have decided to step down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off. Bake Off has been a fabulous part of my life for the last nine years. I have genuinely loved it and I'm sure I'll miss working with my fellow judge Paul, Alison and Noel and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.
"But now feels like the right time to step back (I'm 86 for goodness sake!), there’s so much I’d like to do, not least spend summers enjoying my garden. Whoever joins the team, I’m sure they’ll love it as much as I have. I feel very lucky to have been part of it."
Channel 4 said of her departure: "From her genuine expertise and encouragement of the bakers to her ability to drop innocent innuendos that reduce the entire tent (and the audience at home) to tears of laughter, Prue will always have a piece of Bake Off's heart."
