Queen Mary channels Carrie Bradshaw in 'edgy' £1k Manolo Blahnik heels
King Frederik's wife looked straight out of Sex and the City as she marked the 30th anniversary of the Danish psychiatric foundation at Moltke's Palace
Queen Mary oozed glamour on 24 February as she stepped out at Moltke's Palace in Copenhagen – and had royal fans doing a double take with her killer heels.
King Frederik's wife, 54, viewed an exhibit of painted elephants to mark the 30th anniversary of the Danish Psychiatric Foundation, as the theme of the event was talking about the elephant in the room. She went full Carrie Bradshaw, donning Manolo Blahnik's iconic 'Hangisi' pumps, which came in the boldest canary yellow hue and featured the designer's iconic sparkly buckle detail.

The adored rom-com fashionista, portrayed in Sex and the City by Sarah Jessica Parker, famously wore colourful and eccentric outfits, often featuring bright heels by Spanish designer Manolo Blahnik, including the cobalt blue ones she wore to her wedding with Mr Big.

Mary paired the £1,115 shoes, which feature a four-inch stiletto heel, with another sunshine-hued piece – the 'Muse' clutch by Yves Saint Laurent. Meanwhile, her dress by the now-discontinued REDValentino line, which was identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, featured a flattering pleated skirt that grazed the shin and an embellished Peter Pan collar.

She added a skinny leather belt to further cinch her silhouette and, for her jewellery, tied the bright colour of her heels in with her yellow and pink stone earrings by Annikat. Meanwhile, her hair looked gorgeous in loose waves, having been cut to a shorter length last week.
Queen Mary's heels contrast against the deep blue dress
Of Mary's Carrie-inspired moment, fashion stylist Leanne Jones tells HELLO!: "A pop of colour is always uplifting, and this shade feels absolutely perfect for the season. While last year saw fashion fall in love with soft butter yellow, Spring/Summer 26 is embracing something bolder - brighter, sharper lemon tones that are full of energy."
The stylist adds: "Queen Mary has taken a simple navy dress and given it real edge. The contrast of that vivid yellow against the deep blue is striking, while the diamanté detailing on her shoes subtly reinforces her regal presence."

Leanne also praises Mary's styling with her choices in pieces that match the shoes: "She's drawn out the yellow from the encrusted collar of her REDValentino dress and echoed it in her shoes, and her earrings, which feature beautifully toned yellow stones.
"Threading a colour through an outfit in this way is a sophisticated styling technique."

Frederik and Mary attended a Danish-Dutch trade dinner at the Grote Kerk
It's not the first time Mary has gone to town with her yellow heels. In 2022, the royal joined her husband at the Dutch-Danish trade dinner in the Grote Kerk in The Hague, Netherlands.

For the occasion, which was hosted by King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, Mary teamed the eye-catching pumps with a semi-sheer fit-and-flare dress by Temperley London.

Mary has proved previously that she isn't afraid of a more-is-more look with a statement collar similar to the one she rocked earlier this week. In December, the royal, along with King Frederik, and three of their four children, Prince Christian, 20, Princess Isabella, 18, and Prince Vincent, 14, hosted a Christmas gathering of their staff at Christiansborg Castle.
Getting in the festive spirit, Mary embraced a touch of glitter with the 'Xena' dress by Australian designer, Rebecca Vallance. The fellow Aussie paired the A-line midi dress with plain suede pumps to elongate her silhouette.
