Members of the royal family are rarely seen without their shoes on, and the royals are well known for their stylish footwear.

However, the royals have occasionally been required to slip off their shoes on a royal tour or as a sign of respect when visiting religious buildings.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are known to enjoy going barefoot at home, with the Duchess of Sussex revealing she likes to open her front door without shoes on as it "demystifies" her to people.

This week, the Princess of Wales removed her Gianvito Rossi high heels during a visit to a Hindu temple in Leicester, taking part in a traditional garba dance. Her husband, Prince William, meanwhile, took off his shoes – and socks – for a game of volleyball in Brazil during his Earthshot prize visit last year.
