Princess Kate doesn't need to try hard to appear regal; however, she proved exactly why she was the perfect fit for Prince William when she donned a floral crown almost identical to a headdress worn by the late Queen.
The Princess of Wales was visiting Nauti Primary School during a Diamond Jubilee tour in September 2012 and sported the accessory on her head as she chatted with young children.
Representing Queen Elizabeth at the time, Kate, 44, travelled to the Polynesian island nation, Tuvalu, with her husband, Prince William.
Sitting at a small school table with an exercise book open in front of her, the young princess looked engaged as she interacted with the local children, who also wore traditional headdresses in the background of the photograph.
Kate looked radiant in a yellowish cream short-sleeved dress that featured a mesh design in the shape of florals and an oval neckline.
Around her neck, she sported a large beaded necklace made from what appeared to be dried flowers in the same yellow colour as her dress and a pale blue.
She kept her makeup glowy and natural and added a pair of drop earrings to complete her look. Pulling her hair into a classic up-do, the main event was her floral crown that featured green, pink and white traditional flowers from the region.
A striking resemblance
Kate's South Pacific island look immediately brought to mind photographs of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who also toured the area in 1982.
Visiting the island of Tuvalu for a feast held in her honour during her tour, she wore a necklace of bone after it was presented to her and a headdress crown of stephanotis flowers.
Styling her hair in the same fashion as Kate's, her crown was slightly different in that it was all white, however, she sported similarly natural makeup and added a pair of pearl drop earrings to complement her outfit.
The late Queen embraced the island's lifestyle when selecting her dress for the evening and opted for a white garment covered in orange and light pink designs that resembled palm trees.
Underneath the bone necklace, two sets of her signature string of pearls were fastened around her neck.
The entire trip carried plenty of crossovers, as Kate and the late Queen were both hoisted above locals' heads on thrones and carried in a similar fashion by welcoming parties.
Kate has been embracing more colourful dressing as of late, nodding to her previous tours where she adopted a more free colour palette.
