The Princess of Wales celebrated St Patrick's Day on Tuesday by paying a visit to the Irish Guards at Mons Barracks, Hampshire. I was on the ground shadowing the royal and watched as she was presented with a sprig of shamrock upon her arrival.
Kate, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, took in the parade and helped hand out sprigs of shamrock to the military officers. She looked particularly delighted to be reunited with the regiment's mascot, Seamus, an Irish wolfhound.
I had a chat with Seamus' handler, Drummer Joseph Aldridge, who told me Seamus is doing very well and is "very healthy" for his six years of age.
