Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are said to be refusing to let her mother Sarah Ferguson seek refuge at their family home.
A new report by the Daily Mail suggests the 35-year-old royal's businessman husband is putting his foot down about protecting Sarah in the wake of the ongoing scandal involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife's controversial ties to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite being "concerned about her welfare", Eugenie and Jack are reportedly "resisting any suggestion" that Fergie seek temporary refuge at their family home with their two young sons, August, five, and Ernest, two.
The former Duchess of York has been without a fixed abode since her eviction from Royal Lodge alongside ex-husband Andrew, following King Charles's unprecedented decision to strip the disgraced royal of his royal titles in late 2025.
Furthermore, Jack is reportedly concerned about the impact any public association with his in-laws could have on his business. The entrepreneur is the owner of drinks company AEB Consultants Ltd, which reported impressive £630,000 profits in 2022.
The paper reports that while he is fiercely loyal to his family, he doesn't wish to be "tainted by association" and his priority remains protecting his wife and his young sons' future.
Where is Sarah Ferguson now?
Sarah hasn't been pictured since her ex-husband was arrested (and subsequently released) on suspicion of misconduct in public office last month, and her exact whereabouts are unknown.
While Andrew has retreated to a modest farmhouse on the Sandringham estate under the shadow of the ongoing police investigation, Sarah is reportedly 'sofa-surfing' between luxury European wellness retreats.
In the latest episode of HELLO!'s A Right Royal Podcast, which you can watch in the video below, hosts Emily Nash and Andrea Caamano delved into what is going on with the elusive royal with our guest Matt Wilkinson, royal editor of The Sun.
"Where is she? Where is Fergie? We've been trying to find her for ages. It's almost semi guesswork. She went to Ireland, to a spa there. She went to Verbier. She stayed in a chalet lent to her by Paddy McNally, an old friend," Matt said.
He suggested she may have been spending time at Princess Eugenie's Portuguese home, which is located in Melides, just outside of Lisbon.
"She could be in Portugal. Eugenie came back recently," he said of the 66-year-old former Duchess.
Secret escapes
In February, the Daily Mail reported that the mother-of-two had retreated to Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal, Ireland.
The award-winning, 4-star resort boasts fantastic views of Malin Head, a rock crystal spa, and a 17-metre pool, and has long been a favourite location of the former duchess.
Sarah also reportedly booked herself into the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland when fresh allegations about her friendship with Epstein first surfaced.
The resort charges guests a staggering £76,000 a week and offers access to a minimum of 15 dedicated professionals per high-profile or wealthy visitor.
